Merry Christmas Peggy! So glad you liked the cards. I think most of my cards came with the sleeves, but I've bought some at the vintage paper fair as well. If you can find them at Staples that would be great.

Hi Ladies: I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to a great year ahead filled with farmgirl fun! I will be assigning your swap partners on Monday and will post them at that time. Meanwhile, I am going through my collection and pulling out fun Valentine cards for each of you. Please let me know if you have a preference as to a vintage postcard (early 1900's) or a vintage card from the 20's, 30's, 40's era. If you don't care and want to be surprised...great! I am really looking forward to this, my first swap as hostess! Happy New Year all!

Visited an antique store and they had so many valentines and valentine
postcards. It was so much fun going through them, I think I'm
addicted! Got ones with the postmarks. One was 1910, one 1912 and
I bought a third that is 1929. Ok Tammy, you got me hooked on this!
(and I'm loving it ). The valentines they had were just the one
piece children's type so I went for the postcards. The actual
valentine cards that you open up were much harder to find and a lot
more expensive, still I really enjoyed it. Was laughing at the addresses as back then most just had the person's name, city and
state. No street address!

What I make with my
hands, I give with my heart ....

okay...I am embarrassed to say that I just counted how many vintage Valentine cards I bought today (and that's just Valentines) and counted yes, 62....I think I need an intervention!!!! All this while my poor innocent husband and daughter rode a surrey bike around Golden Gate Park and ate ice cream cones...LOL

Linda it is addicting isn't it! I love reading the messages on the back of the postcards. Some of them are just hilarious! I bought mostly postcards today too, but a few mechanical valentines which I love!

Vintage paper fair?? Are you kidding me? I am so jealous! That just sounds awesome! And you got 62?? I wonder if we have anything like that up here in Wisconsin. I haven't been able to find a lot of Valentines yet. There's an antique shop here in town that sells postcards that are pretty inexpensive, but they still have Christmas stuff out and the selection of valentines is very small. I'll have to go back to the big antique mall and see what they have out.

It is so much fun Emily...I wish I wasn't the only California farmgirl on here! Yes, 62 Valentines (and I won't even tell you how many other themed cards I got...LOL) I found a wonderful handtinted French postcard from 1918. It was a photo of a little boy in a sailor suit and was sent to a young boy from his uncle who was serving in World War I...it was to Dear Little Stanley, from his Uncle Fremont. It told about the French children whose papas and big brothers have gone to war, and how they go to school with bags of books and gas masks. Makes me wonder what happened to Uncle Fremont. I hope he came home from the war!

Tammy...Wow!!!! A Vintage Paper Fair...so jealous girlfriend but so happy for you!!!!

That would be like a dream come true! I will really have to keep my eyes and ears open...
I would think Portland would have some things like that happening at various times...I'm
just not sure when.

When did you say you were going to post partners for the swap?

blessings,
peggy
