i am thinking about crocheting some aprons from patterns i found on the internet. was just wondering - should they be lined or not? they will be full size aprons (with bib)and i don't know if the yarn would stretch out really bad if not lined. what do you think? janiee farmgirl #390 |

I agree with Kristina, the ones I've seen aren't lined.

I have some vintage thread crocheted aprons and none of those are lined,I made one of a pattern I got online that is in the pineapple design,it is a pretty vintage pattern. These aprons were mostly worn as a tea party apron and not for practical kitchen use but the ones made of yarn hold up real well for that kind of use,I have a few that my Mom made and they don't seem to stretch at all and hold up to washing real well.

I agree that the crocheted aprons where more for show but I had one that for a time was my only one and it sure got a work out. I would say it depends on the thread (cotton) used and how tight the pattern work. I can not wait to see a finished one you make - NO Pressure - but get going, keep those fingers moving...

I saw one from Red Heart yarn, but they didn't line it. It had a bib, and it was red with a row of white snowflakes holding the bib to the skirt. Very pretty - maybe next Christmas!
