Well, tomorrow I go for the pre op for my histerectomy. I'm getting very anxious, two more weeks for surgery. Get this over with! I'm scared, I don't like pain and I'm afraid I may have a lot afterwards. I know they'll give me pain meds, but still, just the thought. I'm looking forward to the comfort though. Getting rid of that fibroid and not having to go to the bathroom every hour. I'll be in good hands too, Marc is taking care of me.

Anyway, I just needed to get it out. Thank you

*hugs* It's hard not to be nervous, no matter what the procedure is. Just try to stay focused on the positive outcome :)

Erika I had a hystrectomy several years ago and really there was minimal pain. I was up walking the hallways in the hospital that evening. The anticipation is much worse then the reality. You'll be fine!!

Keep reminding yourself that any pain is only temporary. Repeating the mantra "It's only temporary" has gotten me through a lot of physical pains and tough situations. Don't be a martyr. Take your pain medicine regularly and 30 minutes before you think you will need it. Allow yourself to indulge in the recovery. Have plenty of activities like books, puzzles, knitting, so you're not tempted to get out of bed and tend to some small housekeeping chore, which inevitably leads to doing too much. And you can always come on here and spend a few hours.

Erika, You will do just great. The anticipation is nerve wracking, then waiting for 2 more weeks. It will be all over before you know it. Like Julie said, have lots of books, knitting, etc. on hand to keep you busy without getting out of bed.

Erika,

I had one almost four years ago. I had fibroids everywhere and they could not get me to stop bleeding because of them. I actually ended up in the bospital getting a blood transfusion because I was actually bleeding to death. I had no choice. It really wasn't bad at all. I didn't have to take any pain medication once I got home and I was up the next day cleaning my house (even though I shouldn't have and I don't recommend it because I made myself exhausted} Please don't over do it. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and please keep us posted on how you are doing. I will be thinking of you.

hugs

Erika, I'll pray for you. Sometimes, fear is the most difficult part. So, I will pay that the fear and anxiety lessons. Hope you feel so much better afterward. Hugs.

Erika, I hate surgery, and I've had quite a bit of it, but anxiety and fear are right up there with post op pain with how awful they are to go through. Pre op always sounds a lot worse than it is. Thinkin' of you today.

You'll get through this just fine (((Hugs)))

Thank you everyone for the thoughts and prayers. I've been a bit of a nervous wreck all weekend. The doctor wants to remove the cervix and if they find anything weird wit the ovaries those will come out too. Because the fibroid is so big and almost on top of my kidney they're a little worried about getting it all laproscopic. If they run into any issues they will convert to c section. Plus they also gave me the possiblity of blood transfusion. I do not have any heavy bleeding associated with my fibroids, thank goodness for that.

For all of you that have gone through this, thank you for sharing your experience, it means the world to me to talk to someone that has done this. I just want to get it over with, the wait is what's making me anxious. I know it will be over before I know it. Everything is taken care of, my copay, prescriptions, emergency contacts. I know the wait will be worse for my family.

And yes, I'm gathering up all my sewing, quilting, reading, and movies for my recovery :) I went to the fabric store and the book store on Saturday!

Easy there girl. Been there and done that and it was not as bad as I thought it would be. I gave up the pain meds two days after I got home and they split me open from pelvis bone to above my belly button. You will do just fine. Praying for you.
