This fall I was surprized to find that I have IgG food reactions to 37 foods. Many from my garden. I just did a post on this and showed some of my lovely veggies that went to other homes. The good news is I feel great and lost the easiest 10 pounds ever!! www.DakotaGarden.com

Oh it is a discovery for sure. I was recently diagnosed with Oral Allergy Syndrome, in which I too am allergic to many vegetables and fruits. Here for the past years, I was trying to get very healthy mostly to try to improve from fibromyalgia. I was making all my foods from scratch and eating the "most recommended super foods". I kept getting sicker and sicker until I had throat closing and breathing difficulties, scalp tenderness and deep inner ear aches. It took 3 primary care doctors and two specialist to finally send me to allergy testing. Bingo...allergic to many grasses, trees, environmentals i.e.just one example is ragweed, so if I eat cantalope in the ragweed family my body cannot tell the difference in the proteins and it reacts. This is just one example. Many grasses and tree groups have foods associated with them to avoid. I am actually allergic to many "healthy" fruits, vegetables, nuts, fish, seafood and herbs. Cilantro, parsley, apples, carrots, celery...the list goes on and on. I am also allergic to all grains and had been eating oats three times a week. I basically live on corn, a few green veggies that I can eat, some dairy products, berries, and meat. There are so many hidden ingredients in foods these days. Even all purpose flour now is using barley in it. I always wondered why I felt better after eating something like ice cream or a steak (animal based rather than plant based)and then I would feel weak and sickly after eating a salad. It is a challenge, but I share this post in case someone just can't seem to figure out what may be going on with them. Allergy testing is worth every cent. I am feeling so much better. How interesting! Glad you found out what was going on. Whenever I eat guacamole in a restaurant (not homemade), the second it hits my stomach, I want to vomit. I mean, I really have to fight the urge (and no, I don't eat it @ restaurants anymore, lol). Then, the other day, I ate a wrap that had spinach and pesto on it and I nearly tossed my cookies right there! My stomach churned all night. I'm sure I have to have some sort of allergy.

Msdoolittle, I wouldn't be surprized. Your little body is protesting something! Since it happens with restaurant food, I wonder what they put into foods. It was at restaurants where would notice the worse reactions. The allergist said that because of all my other food sensitivities I was probably over-reacting to some preservative!

Dear Annie, wow, you have had quite a time! Years ago, I took the desensitizing allergy shots for the environmental allergies, true allergies to sage, ragweeds, dust, etc and I became much improved. The nurse said that I should have a lifetime of protection from those things, hope so....but the IgG antibodies to foods cause the delayed and very hard to self-diagnose food sensitivities. I read your comments with, heart-felt feeling. The deep earache feeling was one I had also. After avoiding the "foods" my ear is clear. I also am not always clearing my throat and my "hot flashes" went away! They were embarassing. And, I lost the water-retention and extra pounds. The doctor said after complete avoidance, I should be able to add-try foods. I am close - only a couple of weeks more! I just posted a follow-up to this post and an allergy-free sourdough quinoa pancake recipe - Big hug! Gloria
