Does anyone have a recipe for peppermint hot chocolate? Last year, I found "candy cane hot chocolate" from Bulk Barn, but after reading the ingredient list (http://www.bulkbarn.ca/en-ca/products.html?product=5246&search=candy+cane+hot+chocolate), I ended up giving most of it to my cousin for Christmas! I couldn't believe the amount of stuff that was in it & how much you had to actually use to make just 1 cup of hot chocolate!

So I was wondering if anyone had any yummy recipes for a peppermint hot chocolate, without using candy canes? I prefer my candy canes to be eaten, not melted in hot chocolate :p. Or any ideas on making your own? Thanks ladies!

"Trader Joes" and other stores like them carry all natural peppermints, just drop one or two in the cup of hot cocoa, and yummy....and then I saw you don't want to drop in whole pieces of candy, sooo, try crushing them into powder...

It's not exactly a cocoa but something I love-
celestial seasonings candy cane green tea
milk-I prefer almond milk
sweeten to taste with your favorite kind of sweetener-stevia, agave, sugar, what ever
I like malted chocolate milk powder, but I am thinking you could use pure cocoa powder (a whole food, all natural).

I put all the first ingredients together first, stir, then add the malted chocolate milk powder just on the top, usually only like a half a teaspoon full, so it's not much.

It's VERY yummy to me.

Pam, we use peppermint oil just a drop does the trick. My daughter sells Young living and to us the drops they offer are the best. Also in the summer a drop or two in your bottled water is the best and its so refreshing. We had someone give us some Stephens pumpkin spice hot cocoa, it takes so much to make a cup, and the ingredients turned us off. so we just make our own, just put pumpkin in the coco and sprinkle in some pumpkin spice, and we use the allspice with it. Heathers ideal sounds good, and I even have the tea on hand. We also use almond milk and we use stevia or honey to sweeten. good luck! Farmgirl #946 Linda

Make your own simple syrup with 2 cups sugar to 1 cup water, adding peppermint extract (about 1 teaspoon) just as the mixture comes up to a bubble. Allow to boil for about 5-7 minutes to thicken, then store in a jar for up to a month.

I have been making this like crazy lately, and it's not only amazing in hot cocoa, it's phenomenal in coffee!

Shoot, I just make my favorite cocoa then drop a peppermint stick in it! But I've also made some peppermint tea and then put some instant hot cocoa in it. Love peppermint cocoa this time of year!

I like my hot chocolate with a bit of Doctor McGillicuddy's in it...gives it a mint flavor and a little extra "warming." I couldn't resist throwing this in, doesn't happen very often:)

Okay, my hot chocolate recipe is 1.5 t cocoa, 1 T sugar, a teeny bit of water to mix them together, heat, add a cup of milk slowly, stirring, and heat to scalding but not boiling.

I'd just add 1/4 t of peppermint extract to that and see how it turned out.
