I feel bad that so many of you are needing prayers for your family and friends and here I am asking for prayers for my Cairn terrier but you are all a forgiving bunch so here goes...

I've shared under Barnyard Buddies what we are going through with my boy Hobbs. He's going in for surgery tomorrow and if you could just say a short prayer for him I would appreciate it.

The collective heart of this group of women is amazing and I am so thankful I can come here for comfort and support.

Praying that all goes well and a good outcome. I love my furbaby, too.

I'll pray for Hobbs, for sure, Audrey! (I bless and pray for my baby girl Pawlee every night, too - it's only natural! That's what we "pet mamas" do!) Please keep us posted. I'm sure you're very upset and a little bit stressed, so I'm saying a prayer for you, too! Hugs - Nini

Thank you Cindy and Nini! Yes, I'm trying to hold it together but find myself with leaking eyes a lot tonight. And Cindy, your tag line rings true tonight.

Sending warm farmgirl sister hugs your way, Audrey! I know how you're feeling - Pawlee faced a serious health issue a couple of times, and just the mere thought that she was in discomfort made me cry. These are our family members and we love them with all our hearts. I just feel so bad you and Hobbs have to go through this. I'm praying for good news and a healthy little guy - hang in there! - Nini

Definitely praying for your little one and you and your vet. I have been keeping up with your trials in barnyard buddies and have been praying everyday. Just because he has 4 legs instead of 2 doesn't mean you should love him lots and lots. Keep your hope and faith it will help you get through the long minutes of surgery.

Your kind words and prayers mean so much to me. I can't tell you how much... Hobbs goes in for his surgery around 12:00 or 1:00 this afternoon (MDT). I got to see him this morning and he looked real good. Got some of his pep back so I feel confident he can withstand the surgery. We got in lots of hugs and licks and kisses. I'll go back in about an hour to be at the surgery center so he knows I'm nearby. I'll update you all tonigh.

Again, thank you for your prayers not just for Hobbs but for me and DH.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Your prayers mingles with my pleading were graciously answered by God. Hobbs had a successfull all though long (3 hours) surgery. One brief episode of low blood pressure but no additional complications. He's in recovery (poor pup's in ICU) and they are keeping an extra watchfull eye on him. DH and I got to visit very briefly with him this evening and I'll go back tomorrow when he's more alert.

Gosh but this has been a long day! Again, thank you all for your prayers and understanding the love I feel for this little guy. You all are the best!

Thank you ladies. We lost my sweet boy this morning. The surgery was just too much for his little body. I got to hold him in my arms and hugged and kissed him as he transitioned. I am heartbroken but I know he is doing better now.

Audrey,

I am so sorry to hear about your furbaby. As I am typing this, I have a cat next to me with her head on the computer, one sitting on the floor staring at me, and one lying on a pillow behind my head. They are definitely my babies.

But we lost one a couple of months ago. Our 16 year old "Katy" had been sick with hyperthyroidism and though she did not suffer painfully, she had the condition for several months, just getting weaker and "showing her age". She lived a good life and brought us much joy. Through the tears, I held her for several hours as she just went to sleep.

Let yourself grieve. But be sure to continue to feel the love that you gave and received. You'll be in my prayers.

Hugs and more hugs,
Darlene

Thank you Darlene. I'm sorry for your loss as well. They certainly have a way of wrapping themselves around your heart don't they? And even though you know you don't have them very long it's never easy to say goodbye.

Yes, I'm grieving for my boy. But I'm also remembering all the precious memories he gave me. I am thankful that he is the one pet I've had that I absolutely have no regrets with. It's a comfort knowing he had such a good life. And I am so thankful I got to hold him as he left, I mean HOLD HIM. I got to surround him with me and talked to him and petted and kissed him. I think that gave me as much comfort as it gave him.

Oh, I was so elated reading your earlier posts, then your last just left me crestfallen. I'm so sorry that the surgery was more than he could bear. Your loss is felt deeply. I'm so sorry for you, for your family and for little Hobbs. He was well loved--Godspeed, little one.

Oh Audrey, I just caught this post and wanted to say how sorry I am about your dear, sweet dog. We lost our last one over a year ago and it still hurts but I find now that we grieve less and remember the good times more..and so I pray it will be for you. My thoughts are with you and your family. Hugs, Joey

Thanks Joey. I've taken a lot of comfort from your sweet comments and those from all the sisters on the forum. I'm still shedding buckets of tears but I am thankful that we gave him a fabulous life for a dog. He was quite the character and left me with mountains of memories. I'm thinking of making a scrapbook for him since I have so many mementos. I still have his puppy teeth and the colored tape the breeder put around his neck to identify him (his name was orange color until he became my Hobbs). Thank you again for your words of comfort.

Audrey

Good boy Hobbs! I love and miss you.

Thank you Julie, it will be a huge scapbook since we have so many memories. One right off the bat was a camping trip where we hiked by the river and ran into some river otters frolicing in the water. As we watched them we saw Hobbs swimming out to investigate what they were! Boy was he surprised when one dived under the water and tickled his tummy! He came back to shore lickety split!

Good boy Hobbs! I love and miss you.

I'd love to tell you more. He loved to go camping with us and we were fishing at a lake one time and I got a fish on my line and was reeling it in to shore. We didn't expect to catch anything so DH had neglected to bring a net but he said to just bring the fish into shore and he'd catch it. Hobbs saw this fish fighting in the water and as it got closer to shore he ran in before DH had a chance to grab it and before we knew it Hobbs had snagged the fish and brought it in himself! Guess what the pup had for dinner that night? Good boy!

Hobbs must have been a very, very smart dog! I am surprised that he wasn't afraid of it when it was flopping around in the water.

Oh you ladies are so sweet! Julie, thank you for wanting to know stories about my boy. It makes me feel good to tell them. Annie, my Hobbs was 15 years, 5 weeks and 2 days old and he cracked me up all the time too. Wendy, he was a fun little guy, I'm sure Annie has a million stories too. They are just such a fun loving and smart dog. Yes, it's an impossible thing to say goodbye to someone who's been your constant companion for 15 years. Audrey
