Every so many years, the Monarch butterflies make their migration right through my part of Oklahoma and it is the most amazing thing you've ever seen!! The trees literally turn orange. I was so mad that I didn't have my camera to take a picture of such a tree, but they did light on my Lantana. Such pretty butterflies!! Anyway, Fall is on its way because the butterflies are passing through. If you want to see a pretty picture of one, I'm kinda proud of one I got this afternoon. I posted it at the blog... And along with a photo of what happened to my poor husband's rental car while I was communing with the bugs!!

Beautiful butterflies. They all left this area awhile ago, but we do not see too many in swarms like you probably do down there. They are amazing creatures. Sorry about the rental car mishap!!!!! Could have been alot worse!!!

Jan, you are so right that it could have been worse!! My husband said a plastic lid flew off the trailer in front of him and his eye was focused on that when all of a sudden he saw the bold coming right for him. It could have gone through the windshield and killed him like a bullet!!! Just makes me ill to think about it. I wish people would be more careful about the junk they pile onto open trailers that fly off.

I took this photo a couple of years ago in our fields. The wild asters are blooming again in our area right now. It is one of the last sources of nectar for the pollinators before things get really cold.

Love the butterfly pictures Mary Beth and Paula. Sorry about the car, Mary Beth. Glad your husband wasn't hurt. It is scary the way people don't secure things in their truck beds and trailers. |

Beautiful pictures - thanks for sharing..
Glad your husband is ok. That is very scary. Even if it didn't go through the windshield, seeing it flying towards you and wondering if it would go through had to create some tense seconds - that seemed a lot longer than seconds... Yikes.

Lorraine, you are so right. My husband said that when he took the car in today, the rental guy took one look at it and said, "Wow. I bet you were scared, huh?" :-)
