Last week, I bought some elderberry juice and some very expensive (but worth it) tea to help combat this cough that I"d had for over a month. I finally saw my dr. yesterday and by then, the cough was much better. He gave me some antibiotics to take but it seems like the juice and the tea helped most of all. Just wondering how many people drink elderberry juice when they have respiratory problems. It's made me a believer. Cindy

I have never tried it, but for our colds we drink green tea with honey. That seems to do the trick for us.

we have used elderberry juice for many years. The last few years we have really used it for colds and flu season. It works. we cut wild elderberry and juice it.

I agree with Michele. Elderberry juice is superb for colds and flu viruses. There is a lot of medical studies to back that up too!
I found Vitacost.com to have the best price for elderberry products. Good luck finding something more affordable by you. I hope you are feeling better now!

I have been making my own elderberry syrup since last year. I usually get a horrible sore throat about in Jan. every year. It's so bad I have to take that Z-pack. But since I have been making the syrup, I have not been sick. I give it to my grand kids and they don't get sick either. My sister gets bronchitis all the time and I am trying to get her to take it. She's coming up next week and she WILL be drinking it while she's here. And it's SO easy to make and it last about a month. I am so glad you found it and that it's helped.

I made some last year by simmering the berries from my elder tree & adding honey and it lasted in the refrig. throughout the winter. Really good for the flu prevention & if you happen to get the flu. We also take it when getting a cold

Lynn,
I have some dried elderberries, do you think that would work? I would love to make a tea versus syrup using them. I would appreciate your input :)

I have not made elderberry tea, usually the elder flowers are made into a tea, but the dried elderberries make a great tincture which is powerful and good to have on hand in the winter time. take 1/4 lbs. elderberries, put them in a quart mason jar..pour 100 proof vodka over berries until covered....cover jar and let sit away from the sunlight for 6 weeks. Strain and take by the dropperful. Great antiviral, prevents colds, take for the flu & good for kids to take.
