i have learned from my mistakes to wash each teat seperatley. i wash them before i milk including the orifice. then after milking i dip each teat in an iodine and glycerin dip. the orifice stays open about 10 minutes. this ensures they stay clean till dry and closed. when i use them it is before milking. hope this helps. just like a farmgirl would you made your own wipes. good job happy days for your goaties sherrye

Kristina, I have a spray bottle and I fill it with water and a few drops of detergent. That's all. I use Bounty paper towels to dry them off. When I first started milking I ordered the udder wash from Hoegger. But them just started spraying. And I used to use a spray after I milked but I have not done that in years. I haven't had any problems doing this. And it doesn't cost much.

I don't use or make wipes,(no help there), but I use wash cloths to wash my cow with. I bought a package of cheap ones, 20 in a pack??? I use one each milking, and if I can't get her clean with one, I use another clean one. The dirty one does not go back into the water till I am done washing my cow. Then I rinse them, and wash them all in the washing machine. I use dish soap and water to wash with. Then I use a teat dip (purchased) after milking.j

The teat wipe recipe is from Deb, farmgirl #462
1 Tbsp. baby oil 2 tsp. Dawn (must be original) 2 cups water 5 drops tea tree essential oil 5 drops lavender essential oil
Mix well, cut a roll of paper towels in half (remove cardboard tube), insert the roll to soak up mixture, then take it back out, turn it over, and insert the other side. Pull from center to use wipes.
I use a plastic coffee container to store ours in.
I would love to get recipes for the dip for afterwards. Thanks.
