I just found and joined this wonderful forum.
My name is Monique, I'm 46 years old, married for 22 years and we have 2 daughters(21 and 20 years old) and 1 son(17 years old).
I live in a lovely, small, historical town which history goes back to 1200.
I work in an old fashioned bakery where everything is still handmade.
I love to be able to live outside in the country one day but that is very difficult because of the crisis. but we just keep on dreaming about that.
So that's why I love this forum and the magazine. As soon as I saw the magazine I had to get it(lol) Hopefully it won't be too long before I receive it.
I jusy LOVe knitting, crochet( I have my own webshop with lovely yarns since 2 months), quilting, penpalling ,cooking and baking, gardening and lots and lots more.
Monique.

Welcome Monique! I am a new member also, you will love it here, everyone is so nice and friendly and interesting!
I would also love to see pics of where you work and live. It sounds beautiful, the sort of place in which I always dreamed of living. There was a time I would have given anything to have the opportunity to work in an "old fashioned bakery" since I love to bake, especially breads. I do all of the things you listed and more.
I have 3 grown daughters, 9 grand-children (ages 20 months to 23 years [all boys but one]) and one more due in November, and one great-granddaughter (age nearly 2 yrs).

Welcome {{{hugs}}} from Connecticut!

i don't have photo's from the bakery, I will ask if I can make some photo's.But it isn't great looking or old fashioned looking. There are 3 large steel tables where they work on, a small machine where they mix in the ingredients( when it's mixed thedo all the rest by hand) and 3 ovens. It's in an old building from 1700 but the inside is from 15 years ago.

Welcome, Monique,
It is wonderful to have another 'Netherland' farmgirl....
'Dutchy' is our other farmgirl from Netherland.
I am origional from Germany (german mother & american father)....I went back this year again to visit family & was hoping to met up with Dutchy & 2 of the Germany Farmgirls but alas, time did not permit.
I have to tell you, I love your 'StadtZentrum" photo (town center)...it reminds me of Heilbronn, Germany which is where my mother is from.
Now that you are here have fun sharing creative ideas and recipes.

Hi Monique and welcome to MJF. You will love it here!

I visited Bergen op Zoom in 1988 when I was travelling in Europe! I really loved it there and so hated to leave. Such a beautiful city and very friendly people. I was an exchange student in Germany, and after my exchange I spent several months travelling through Europe on my own. I stayed my first night in the Netherlands at the big hostel in Amsterdam but I didn't like it there one bit. So, I checked out the next morning and hopped on a train headed out of town. I got off in Bergen when I learned there was a hostel there. It was the best "diversion" of my entire 6 months in Europe! I stayed at the youth hostel for a week and really enjoyed my daily walk through the countryside to and from the bus stop - such beautiful scenery in the late summer.

Your pictures bring back lots of memories. Now I'm dreaming about digging my photos out of storage for a revisit!

I live in Washington state near Seattle. Looking forward to knowing you!

Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Thank you everyone for al the warm welcomes I have been receiving.
Hi Dutchy, wonderful to meet someone from the Netherlands here!
Marilyn, did you stay at the hostel in the woods just outside of town?
Yes, Bergen op Zoom is a lovely town, so beautiful and I just love all those old buildings. But someway I have been always attracted to the USA.
I only have been there once, last Februar. I only stayed for 5 days and I was in New York. It was our birthday gift toour daughter who turned 21 and I went with her to New York. Now I'm lucky because my other daughter will turn 21 in May next year, jjjjiiiippppiiiieee!
My dream is some day to see more of your gorgious country!
