I have a wonderful friend who lives just a few miles out of Moscow, ID.... we have our daily morning e-chats and phone calls when only a voice will suffice....
My cell was ringing & I debated whether to answer it. The call was from Juli, she is one of my dearest friends and "Glamping partner in Crime"...
I had just arrived home & was putting the sacks away when my phone rang..I am so glad I answered the phone. It was Juli, with sad news that a very dear & old friend of hers had passed away... we chatted a bit and after we hung up, I thought how glad I was that I took the time to answer the phone rather then let it go to voice mail, as I often do when I am busy.
If for only that moment, she was able to talk, share with me.
I had the good fortune to meet the elderly gentleman who had passed away today, and I know how important he was in Juli's life.
I am so glad that I answered,,, 'When a friend calls'....
Now to wrap them both in heartfelt prayers.

Wow Grace. You sure made me think. I do the same thing sometimes. Even to my husband. He's a truck driver and gets pretty lonely out there. But sometimes I am busy or missed the call. So thanks for putting this out there. I needed it. I will be thinking about your friend too. You did the right thing.

There is nothing like actually talking to someone to make my day! I just love my frequent, almost daily, chats with my daughter. You can HEAR things in voices that you can't in emails or texts. Just recently I called a farmgirl friend who is having some difficulties . . . it was uplifting to actually talk with her.
Yes, "when a friend calls" . . . important times!
