My mom surprised me yesterday and gave me my grandma's wood drying rack! Grandma's has been gone for about 15 years (MISS her!!) and mom has kept her drying rack all these years. Her drying rack must be at least 25+ years old. I remember my grandma using it all year long - by the wood stove in the winter and on the porch during the summer. Thank you, Mom!!

A drying rack was all I had for years without a dryer. Mine broke and am now looking for another one.

How nice to have gotten an older drying rack. The new ones are such junk and fall apart right away. I do not use a dryer and have to use drying racks all winter. I use aluminum ones now, and they seem to hold up to the heat of the wood stove. Enjoy your rack.

I have an aluminum one that seems to work pretty good for me - but I'm only one person, and I have another "spare closet" (haha) that I hang a lot of stuff on.

The drying rack was my only clothes dryer for the first few years of my first marriage. It seemed the rack was either full of drying diapers or dish towels. (no dish washer either) When it was not longer needed as a clothes dryer it became the place for drying homemade noodles and bunches of herbs. Growing up, my grandmother always had two racks, one folding that stood on the floor, the other hung on the wall and the arms would be raised and spread out like the fingers of a hand. Thanks for reviving these memories. Missing those days.........and my grandmother.
Keep your rack safe and be sure to hand it down to your daughter, along with the memories.

how nice! i found one, a large one and it looks older, a few years back at the goodwill for 3.00! Saw another the other day and almost picked it up just because. We only had this for drying clothes near the woodstove growing up, that and summer sunshine! I mostly use it for my clothes and srying dyed yarn.

I haven't seen an old one for a long time and I actually don't remember my mom having one, but I bought two of the bigger ones from Walmart. I use them to display my aprons at Farmers Market and Christmas Bazaars . . . and when I can't hang clothes outside I use them for drying clothes. Love 'em!

what a joy & treasure to have that drying rack...
I have one that was given to me by my elderly neighbor (it was her moms) a home made rack that I now use to display my vintage table covers & doilies.... I love and cherrish it as I know you do yours.
