I am going to have to learn how to post pics. Since I mentioned to my daughter that we are doing a trick or treat swap - she took that as a its time to decorate. My whole house looks like a mini haunted house. LOL> She just loves halloween.

Lord, Amy we did! My only child, Red-Headed Holly, inheritated the love of Halloween from her mom!It was the 1970's and I painted ceramics, we had Jack-O-lantern's holding the soap and the toothpaste, Paper Decorations on Both sides of the door and a Skeleton taped to the shower curtain! spider web on top of the medicine cabinet, Suction Cup Spiders on the Mirror. My Granny came over once when Holly was about 5, and said, My gracious,"Is there anything you won't let that child Decorate!" LOl!

Living in the country with no trick or treaters we became very creative for our daughter. One year I T.P'd her room; one year we shut off all the lights, gave her a flash light and she had to find candy hidden in the house while we moved around and scared her (was that mean?, well she loved it); one year we just had her run around the house from door to door like a trick or treater; we had many Halloween parties always with a haunted forest the kids loved and like the ice in the punch I made pizza from scratch and made all the "pieces" as bones, hands, feet, & they LOVED it! Once she dressed as a pirate and we took an old wooden box, filled it with costume jewerly and candy and with a treasure map & clues she had to find it hidden in the house. I will have to find some pics to post, it was always great fun.

Ginny how wonderful!!!So creative and what fun she must have had!! I haved lived in the country the past 25 years and Halloween Trick-or-Treaters is the only thing I have missed about the city! Some years we went to my daughters in Cordova, Tn. and had supper with her and she let me give out the treats! So many great costumes. One lady was a jellyfish, she had on white sweatpants and sweatshirt, white tennis shoes and carrying a clear umbrella with a tap light under the umbrella at the very top, and had the jellyfish legs hanging from all around the edges of the umbrella! they were all lengths made of thin white material. I have a pic of her somewhere, that was about 10 years ago and me and my husband still talk about that costume, so easy and it look so great with that tap light shinning down on her, she had glitter also on her costume!

Since I am so new to this wonderful idea, I had a question. Can we put other things in addition to food items in our swap (for example, I love vintage Halloween anything)! Don't worry I will put in plenty of edible treats....but just wondered how it worked. I have only done one swap before...a vintage vacation swap with the lovely and talented Jenny Holiday fom Everday's a Holiday. It was soo much fun. Can't wait for this one.
