The other morning my daughter came in from doing her barn chores, and she goes "Mom, I like our new white chicken!" I replied, "Sorry, but we don't have a new white chicken." She swore it is not one of ours as we only have one big yellow chicken and one little banty left. I thought she had to be seeing things, but sure enough when I went out later to check it out, we now have 3 hens clucking around the barnyard! We don't have any neighbors with chickens. Honestly, someone must have driven by and threw her into our pasture. Weird!

Living in the country,lol...My neighbors and I all have had barnyard animals added to our groups over the years, thankfully they have been healthy and not brought death to ours, it happens mostly a month or so after Easter, all the un-wanted chicks, ducklings and bunnies...but once in awhile we will finds goats , sheep and pigs, and with the economy the way it is, cattle and horses too...

Free chickens! That's nice. I have a friend who called a few months ago asking me if I wanted a pig. One just wandered up and moved in. She asked all her neighbors and it was no ones. Then a few weeks ago she called again and asked if I wanted a goat. It has horns and is probably a pygmy so I didn't want it. But if she calls next time with a lamb I'm gettin' it.

The universe provides... I get things like Wild Turkeys decide to join in with my flocks. I had a orphan doe deer who's mother was killed by hunters so she came into the barn with the two year old billies and they took care of her thru the winter - now she has brought more then a dozen deer to live her and this year she delivered her baby in my drive way... Oh how I wished I would get chickens - you are truely blessed. Glad to hear they are healthy too.. Congrat's

I once had a trio of guineas wander into our place. I asked all the neighbors and no one had lost any, or even had any, for that matter. They couldn't be caught, but worked their way around our wooded acreage, roosted near the henhouse at night, and helped themselves to a bit of scratch when I gave some to the hens. They stayed a couple of years, then disappeared as mysteriously as they appeared. I chalked it up to God knowing I needed some tick control.

I would much rather having them throw chickens in my yard than litters of puppies and kittens. THAT happens all too often, and I'm running out of good homes to give them to!!!!

We get that a lot, too. I've got a dog that wandered onto our farm and a whole litter of kittens I'm getting ready to take to the shelter. I just can't take them all in!!!

We get cats and kittens all the time. The occasional duck and once a pony tied to the backside of our trailer.

Gracy, maybe Santa finally got around to delivering the pony you asked for when you were 6? LOL!!

LOL Maybe you are right. Not however, at first sight the pony of a little girls dreams. He was 200lbs underweight, filthy, covered with fungus, toothless and his feet looked like he was wearing elf shoes. That being said he was the sweetest little guy you would ever want to come in contact with. Once he put on some weight and got a bath and some fungus medicaiton, got his feet done and a good few months grooming, he did get taken home by a Grandpa for his grandchildren to learn about horses. So I guess he did fulfill some child's wish for a pony. We named him Tabet.
