I've been taking PB8. Wondering if there is something better out there.

Deb, I would also like to find out more about a good one to take. Years ago I was working with a naturopath and the ones I got from him had to be refrigerated. Now there are so many that don't need to be and it confuses me!!! Also, some only have one kind of probiotic and that also confuses me! And they are so expensive that it's tough to go out and spend that kind of money for something you're not sure about.

Hopefully someone will share their insight with us!

I take Probiotic 11 from Nature's Sunshine and love it. I drink lots of kefir also which has probiotics in it.

I have a refrigerated probiotic that is about 12$ @ sprouts (or whole foods, or any other health store. I think even Fred Meyer carries it). Also, I eat alot of greek yogurt, which has some good intestinal bacterias in it. I have found that expense usually has to do with count of active cultures or how many different kinds of live/active cultures it has. If you have intestinal grief alot, it is well worth the money to get a little more expensive one. However, if your over all health is good and you are just maintaining, a less expensive one should be more than adequate.

I also drink Kefir, raw milk and I quit taking probiotics because I couldn't afford it! I did a lot of research on it for myself and what I did find out to be true for me is that if I took one that didn't get refrigerated, it didn't work. I also found out that if you don't take a two stage one you really aren't getting any probios because your stomach acid kills most of it off. But anyway I'm not a naturopath and that is what I found out from my own research into it. Since I've been drinking raw milk and Kefir my IBS has disappeared. I think its the raw milk. But again raw milk is extremely hard to find (thank you fda) unless you have shares in a cow, or have your own. But at any rate my sister gets great results from the very same probiotic that didn't help me at all so once you find something that works for you in your price range then stick with it :) Best of luck in your search! :)

Krystle, you are right-on about Kefir and raw milk. We don't take probiotics anymore, but use kefir regulay now.

Milk kefir is strongly anti-infl ammatory2 and may
prove helpful in combating gastro-intestinal distress
caused by infections from bacillus cereus3, salmonella,
e coli and helictobacter pylori4. Milk kefi r is also
particularly important in recovering from clostridium
difficile infection and associated gastrointestinal discomfort

antibiotics. Despite the fact that milk kefir is, itself,
a symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeasts (or SCOBY),
milk kefir also acts as a powerful antimicrobial food –

How do you make your Kefir smoothies? A few times I've taken a frozen banana, whatever frozen fruit I had in the freezer that sounded good and a little bit of Kefir, it was a little thick but still good!

I sweeten with liquid stevia, add fruit and sometimes blue green algae. Sometimes a dash of vanilla. I really like peach with berries, but no banana for me. I use 8 oz. of kefir for my smoothie.
