I use the ones in the Ball canning books. They aren't as thick and sweet as your store bought ones, but for me they make a great BBQ base. That is I can change it up to what I am needing. If I am wanting a sweeter sauce then I open a jar and add a little molassas. If a spicey sauce is called for I can add some more mustard and spices to the sauce. Gives me great versatility.
I make a BBQ out of bourbon.. I have two versions, one out of the marine family cookbook and another is a jack daniels recipe. If you would like either one of those I will post them.
