my neighbour said I could gather all the pears I want off her tree. They are the kind that have to be cooked down..
as straight from the tree they are hard and not very sweet.

So..I thought I'd ask if anyone had any ideas on what to do with them other than adding sugar and cinnamon to them.

Me, too please! I have two pear trees that had lots of pears last year -- they were edible, but sort of hard like an apple and they never did soften after we harvested them. They look similar to the Bartlett pears you can buy at the store, but more round-shaped than pear-shaped. I'd love to know how to use them in other recipes.
