Can anyone tell me what this pot was used for? It's pretty old. I found it in a shop in Swansboro, NC and the lady I purchased it from was not sure. It is in great condition. The handle is wood. I hope it wasn't a chamber pot!http://www.maryjanesfarm.com/Snitz/Images/SDC15085.JPG" border="0">

Both pictures came through and it's what we used to call a "slop pot". You dumped the chamber pots into it but some people use them now for collecting veggie scraps for composting.

OMG I was afraid that was a slop pot! The label (paper sticker) is in remarkably good condition considering the age and use of ths pot. Not liking it as much as I did. I'll use it for something. Any suggestions? Yikes!

I have 3 of these, two are missing the lids unfortunatly. I use them in the bathroom to hold "the extra roll of toilet paper", cause I can't stand those crocheted hat things, lol, and also for my cleaning sponges and brushes, and the other has my differant bath goodies in it, i.e., salts, oils etc...just boil the heck out of them, if you are worried about germs, but I would think after a hundred years, the germs would all be dead by now...

haha! Tracy, I know about a couple hundred gals who would dearly luv to own a pot like that for their "personal chamber pot" for their trailer.... I like the idea of using it to stash bathroom items or T.p. in it.... cute!

I use mine to keep my laundry detergent in next to my washer. Not alot of cupboard space and it is so much prettier than the box.
Yours is in great shape! My MIL uses hers without the lid for tp storage.

Mine sits by the back door and holds my bird seed and scoop. The funny part is my ex sister-in-law gave it to me because it was red and white and matched my kitchen decor. She called it a spaghetti pot!!!!!!! Of course, I didn't have the heart to tell her I was NEVER going to cook spaghetti in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love all the ideas from you for my Potty Pot! It is in really good shape and I only paid $20 for it. Probably a good deal. I think I will use it for bird food on the screen porch. I have another pot with a handle on it that I will post tomorrow. Need to go home and take a pic. Sure would love to know what it was used for. It is more like a pail with a spout.Thans again ladies!
