LOL! Not trying to start a war here or anything but the first 4 posts I read this morning all ending up with the question "are you on FB". Call me old fashioned or just plain strange but I've never understood the whole FB craze! And, no, I am not on FB.

Am I alone?

Hi Audrey,

I tried it, but it wasn't for me either. Too many people wanting to get in touch with me that I didn't know and an old boyfriend (I've been married for 22 years) that I honestly did not want to have to bother with were starting to bother me way too much. I am such a quiet, loner kind of person that I would rather not be on Facebook at all. I do have a blog, though. But I don't find the blog nearly as intrusive. My mom is on FB, as are both of my teenage sons and many of my other family members and friends and they all love it, so I guess that makes me the oddball of my family.

I'm not. Way too much information for me. I did it to keep up with family like nieces and nephew. Yikes, was that a mistake. I prefer to remember them the way they were when they were little. SO I got myself outta there.

MJF is on facebook. I was a resister as well. What I like best is that you get posts about things you, "like." I like MJF, also my favorite musicians to find out about releases and concerts. Lately I notice products have you, "Like," them and you can get a discount or coupon. It's neat, but I have a hard time navigating my own profile because it changes so much.

Oh my gosh!! so true! I have the same thing going on. I even have refused to be friends with my cousin's kids because I feel like they are way too young to have a profile.

I tried, but cannot keep up with it. It is blocked at work, and I rarely have time to spend much time on the computer at home other than some weekends so I can't stay caught up with all of the conversations. Mary Jane's blog is also blocked at work. I hope they don't block the Farmgirl Connection at work...I would be really lost!

The worst are those applications. I always click a wrong link and end up inviting others, or something stupid like that. So I ignore them now. My cousins are always sending some unlock this secret about you thing. I am refusing the games too, because i don't want my family to go hungry. My friend is addicted to Farmville.

I do not use facebook, and ever since most of my friends signed up, I'm the last one they talk to at the end of the day or week.

You are not alone.

aaaaw, that's horrible. I can relate because I gave up texting. My Momma's not on FB, and she's my #1 to call with good news. She doesn't text either.

I've never even been tempted to FB. Heck, I can go a week without answering my phone! Love the answering machine and voice mail. But it may be a day or two before I check them as well. If the phone is in my hand or easily accessible like in my pocket I'll probably answer it. I don't screen my calls, I just don't feel compelled to run to answer it. Friends and family know to call again if they really need me. If it is a true emergency they know to drive on out and find me. Cell phones don't work out here by the way. If I'm out working there is no way to reach me. I do let folks know if I am traveling so the won't worry. My sweetie is more inclined to run for the phone but even he knows to take a message if it is for me when I am involved in a project.
Am I the only one like this?

I resisted for a long time but recently have been on FB. It has helped me to share pictures and updates with a few relatives. However, I have only 8 friends! I don't actively look for people and I don't accept friend requests from people I don't want to talk to. I also keep most of my info private. And I used my married name which most people don't know. Talk about secretive! No, I just wanted to use it to keep in touch with a few people. It is also good for getting notice of giveaways and coupons which I have made use of.

NO Facebook for me- or my kids (they are 11 and 13). I honestly just dont see the point in it. If I want to talk to someone I pick up the phone and call them. I do not understand why people would want to share so much of themselves "online". I know I am the "odd man out" here- but thats ok. I dont need anyone to "like" me. Many say that they have re-connected with "friends" that they havent talked to in 20 years. My response to that is "Honey if you havent talked to them in 20 years- they arent really your friend" LOL
To each his own, it doesnt bother me what other people do- I just personally dont have any interest in it, and feel it is the demise of many young kids these days.
Whatever you decide to do its your choice- I simply choose not to bother with it.
Smiles,

All of what you say is so true. I'm a loner also and if I haven't talked to you in a year it's for a reason. There are only 2 people in my life that I have lost touch with that I wouldn't mind reconnecting with. What irks me is that so many business' are offering discounts or coupons but only if you "like" them. If you aren't on FB you are out of luck. I dropped our Red Box account for that reason and let them know why. Sadly, all my family are on FB and communicate that way so I'm out of the loop and no one thinks to keep me informed. Oh well!

I got hacked and hacked and hacked, my account was sending porn pictures to my friends and family, so I just quit the whole thing. I'm still irked at FB for not helping me stop the hackers. I'm so grateful for the farmgirl connection!!!

I don't have FB either and don't see myself ever getting it. It's just not for me. I am a little out of the "loop" but I question the quality and depth of the communication and relationships that are "in the loop" so it doesn't bother me.

No on facebook, don't want to, not going to. Live in the mountains so I can have peace and quiet. What ever happened to talking to people face to face. I would rather meet more farmgirls and spend time with them.

Ya know what's kinda funny to me? When husbands and wives talk to each other on FB. Just kinda strange. I saw that alot when I was on it.

I'm not on facebook, my DD hijacked my account, but I am tempted to get rid of it altogether. She spends way too much time playing games on there. In the summer, though, it is an easy way for her to keep up with friends from school, since no one lives right around us. I work at home, and most days only talk to my DD and DH and maybe one of the ladies at work if I have a question or my neighbor. I am a bit of a loner, but do love to talk when I see people in person.
