I've been reading Mary Jane's Farm Magazine for about two years, and am interested in creating friendships with other farmgirls. I don't have much experience with computer forums, but I'm sure I'll learn. My hubby and I live on a small farm with our two dogs, two rabbits, chickens and extended family. I care for my mil who has dementia and other health problems, so that is my full time job. I enjoy knitting, cross-stitch, crochet, gardening, and sewing. I look forward to joining in the fun. Blessings,
Chris

Hi Chris and welcome. I live right below Chattanooga in N. Ga. I am there several times a week it seems. I hope you enjoy it here. Everyone is very friendly. I just took a knitting class yesterday. I have the casting on, knit stitch and casting off ok but the pearl I am confused about. I did it fine in the class but as soon as I got home I forgot it. I will practice for awhile.

Hello Chris,
Welcome! Bless your heart for being such a good dil. My mother had a host of health problems and it wasn't easy to care for her--especially later on. I know something of what you're facing. It's tough.
I'm a knitter and cross-stitcher, as well as a woodworker. I'm learning punch needle embroidery too. I'm sure you'll find a lot of like-minded friends here. It's nice to have you join us. Warmly,
Karen

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. It's nice to meet some folks who are interested in some of the things I am.
Kris- I'm a new knitter myself. Knit & Purl is all I can do so far. I have found it addictive.
Karen- Thank you. I don't think my family and friends realize just how stressful my days can be. It's nice to feel someone understands. My husband makes wooden pens and pencils. He is thinking of making some tables and bookcases.
Blessings, Chris

Welcome Chris, from a Texas Farmgirl. I know you will love it here. The Farmgirls are wonderful and it's a great place to learn. You enjoy the same hobbies that I love. I love your part of the country. At one time we were planning to retire in that area, until our kids insisted that if we weren't going to move again, we had to live near one of them. Guess I'll just have to visit occasionally.

Hello and Welcome Chris from Long Island, NY! Bless your soul for taking on the difficult task of caring for your MIL. Not easy to care for a parent or In Law. You will love all of the girls here- one just nicer than the next! Smiles,

Welcome Chris!
I tip my hat to you. Looking after someone with dementia would be stressful, heartbreaking and hard work! You are a tremendous daughter!

Hello from Upstate NY!
I just moved back to the area, from VA, having lived in this area about 25 years ago. I am looking forward to chatting and participating in the forums. I left a teaching job to move here and am hoping to find something in the educational field. I have lived in NY 3 times, LA 2 times, FL, VA, and numerous places in TN, but love this area the most. We plan to look for a future retirement home, but the way things are now, I am not sure anyone will ever retire! I can't complain, though. God is good!
Looking forward to hearing from everyone, Portia

Welcome Chris! You will definately find loving support here, even during an election year. Make sure to tell us about any interesting sites or forums you come across.
Hello Portia, Welcome. I see you joined the Whimsy Jar swap. I am too excited about it! You should post your own hello on the Welcome Wagon! I want to know more about where you have lived. I have always been intrigued by the south. Where in Florida? I lived in Cape Caneveral and Cocoa Beach, when I was 8. quote: Originally posted by ptroupe

Hey Kris! We're neighbors! I keep hoping if more farmgirls sign up from our area we could have a get together. :) I'm originally from Cali, but moved to Paint Lick a few years ago. I've been to Nashville and Memphis-both very cool! Welcome to MJF!
