I love having a hurricane party!!! Last hurricanes we had I think in 2004 everyone had the most fun. No electric for a week so we hooked up the old generator. It ran the ceiling fans in our living room so everyone slept under the ceiling fans it was like a huge camp out party. We ate out of the freezer all week and grilled out on our big smokers. I fried bacon and sausage sandwiches every morning for all the neighbors. What a blast we had. And don't forget we own 2 septic companies so the more rain we get the more money we make!!!!So yes come on hurricane. A category 3 is not bad at all!!

I surely hope the hurricanes don't hit anyone, the damages and loss of lives are horrible, loseing momentos that can't be re-placed, pets/livestock and wildlife that are killed, emotions run high...and making money due to other peoples losses, thats sad...

Tina, A Cat. 3 hurricane is not bad at all. I grew up in Florida and have never heard or seen of any lives lost. You just have to batten down the hatch. You can't be lazy about it. Now if they start talking about a Cat. 4 or 5 then you need to start worrying. Florida has not had hardly enough rain in the past 7 years. We really need the rain. Cattle ranchers are really concerned about their cattle. When you have to start moving them around for water then the cost of beef goes up. We actually help people for free after the hurricanes except for pumping sewage. But water pumping is free. Because we do not have to pay for disposing water but we have to pay for disposal of sewage! You don't lose anything in a Cat. 3. Just have lots of fun in the wind and rain!!My kids are already getting their kites out!!! Your probably thinking about Katrina. A totally different environment and situation! And also my husband and I are farmers besides having the septic business so we pray for rain every night. With out the rain we would be out on the streets and losing our home like everyone else.

Dorinda, I have friends that went thru Katrina, Rita and Ike (Texas & Louisiana), and all of them had major loses, pets, homes, family, friends, neighbors and momentos, so as far as no one dying, they did in other states...I understand wanting rain, we need it here also, and so does most of the Gulf Coast and South West, but wishing for a Hurricane, even a Cat 3, is just not smart, and wishing that you will get "WORK' out of it cause of the more rain you get, the more money you make, is still the wrong way to word it...

Yea maybe I did word that a little wrong . Hum- Have to be more careful next time and not get so excited. Unforunately I just saw on the news it was turning away which I fiqured it would. But it is also pushing our rain away that we were going to get from the west coast. I hate the thought of irrigating. I bet the orange prices go up for next year now. Good for us, bad for the consumer. So we will probably compensate from the oranges.Hum --Funny how mother nature works!!

I have lived through a lot of hurricanes living in the Mobile area, there is always one common denominator, the best comes out in most people. They help each other, whether it is cleaning up afterwards or feeding those in need.

There are always bad things that come from these storms, but there is also a lot of good. It is fun when the power is off for weeks at a time. We sleep cool at night thanks to a generator and window ac. So we have alot of our family and friends hanging out at our house in the evenings. I think times like these bring families closer. We have alot of fun also! Dorinda I understand why you want a hurricane there.

Thanks Tina from California. I live in Southwest Louisiana. And- Hurricane Ike, a Cat 3, flooded our home. That was our second flood. That was no fun at all. The neighbors had a Hurricane party. At 2 AM the Coast Guard had to pick them up from their roof! Hurricane Rita flooded our house with 5 feet of water. Like Tina from Alabama mentioned, the best did come out of the people. We rolled up our sleeves and did what we had to do. We even helped all the neighbors. And- all the people who did help did not ask for one penny.
Good luck to all who are in the path of this coming Hurricane.
