We were canning tomato juice yesterday and when my DH took the canner off the burner, it wouldn't turn off! We had problems for years with that burner, it would only work if it was on high, so I only used it for my waterbath canner and maybe mashed potatoes for easter when cooking for a crowd. My DH pulled out the stove, took off the back, and took out the faulty switch and is planning on trying to order a new one today. BUT, he didn't put the stove back and has not plugged it in because he wants to move the outlet, so, good thing I was caught up on the canning! Sloppy joes out of the freezer for dinner, microwaved, anyone?

Spent six months cooking in a microwave and an electric skillet for 5 adults and 1 child......worked out fine. You learn your limits and if you do it right.....there aren't many...... it was an interesting time! :)
My best to all, Mel

It will be about a week until the new part comes in....good thing I have a slow cooker and a grill outside. I can improvise for a week, just takes a little more thought is all!

You already sound so creative, Tammy! It's definitely a pain in the patooty while we have so many conveniences. My daughter has been without a stove for 3 yrs now. She makes do with all those other appliances. I feel for her..but its beyond interfering.

You can always use your wonderful neighbor's stove or your super neighbor is always up for run to Cancun!! If your neighbor were really nice, she would just invite you and the fam' over for supper. Hmmm, guess I should ask what night you are available:) |

Thanks Kit! Smart aleck.....When my super neighbor isn't getting ready for school to start she will have to give me a call so we can go for a margarita!!!! For everybody else, my DH "Jimmy-rigged" the stove so I can use it in the meantime. He put electrical tape over the connections to keep the live wires from touching and got the outlet fixed, so we can use it, when necessary...
