I've got a huge problem with ruffly valances.

I see them all as skirts. I went to goodwill a few months ago and bought a ruffly curtain valance. It was so long I was able to cut it in half (making two layers of ruffles for the skirt).

I took elastic and put it through the top layer, and then stitched the bottom layer to the top, and closed it all up! It's SUPER cute. It was really easy, as well! I've got one more valance that I wanted to make into something-I may put it on the bottom of my apron as a ruffly accent. :)

I saw an apron like the other day and have been on the lookout for valences ever since!

How funny you bring this up! I just made kitchen valances from an old cotton skirt I no longer wore! I cut the top 3" off, ripped out the side seams, sewed a rod pocket and hung them over my kitchen window. Turned out very cute, gave a whole new look to my kitchen and I spent nothing!
