I am reading over 3 library books that are about natural dyes (and recipes). However, they do not say anything about safe disposal of the dyes. Can anyone recommend a Web site, or a book? Thanks!
What type of natural dye? The bigger question is what mordant was used in the dye or did you separate the mordant and set the mordant first and then dye. Most (there are a few that you need to watch out for) are O.K. to returned to the earth but it is not where animals eat, food is grown or directly onto plants. I have a rock area on my property that is away from all my animals and wild life. Where there is nothing but this rock bed and again never with any metal mordants. Most times I do not use those at all but if I am teaching a class then I have to show the students how to use all types... If you have any further questions I or someone else will be glad to assist. Thanks Grace, I am just getting started to do this. I won't be able to work on it right now, but will keep you in mind when I do. I found out I have more barn repairs to take care of, rebuild a coop, and dig all my strawberry plants up (and put into raised beds). And get it done before the kids go back to school.
Sounds like you will have plenty on your plate. I just had a new book come across my desk about natural dyes - let me read it and see if it work checking out or purchasing... For those of us who really watch what we put on, in and around our earth this topic is very important so I am always adding to my resources..
