I love your blog! I'll be signing up to follow. I have no idea what those are, but I once e-mailed photos to our extension office and they did identify the bushes we were questioning.
Pretty plants, but I don't know what they are. I heard there are a few websites around that you can send a picture to and they will ID it for you. Do a search on google and I bet you will find someone who can help!

I have a huge pot on cat nip growing on my deck. Sure looks similar. But the cat nip leaves are not that large. Do let us know when you do find out what the plants are. They are rather nice. Marly

I am willing to bet the first is some type of horehound (something in the mint family)? Rub the leaf in your fingers--is there a scent? (then wash your hands just in case!! ) The second is amaranthus('love lies bleeding' is the name if I recall )-- chickens love the seeds if you have 'city chicks' City chick!
The first one looks like horehound or mugwort to me..the leaves are a little narrow for mugwort. It for sure looks like the mint family though....square stems. second one IS Love lies bleeding. Pretty...wow..didn't know they got that big!
Hello! This one made me curious, bc I often wondered what the first one is too. I thought I had it id as motherwort, but have no verification of that. One thing is for sure, it has prickly sand spur type thorns on it. I would pull it out and take the whole thing to the x agent, or just burn it bc it can rapidly multiply. Ive watched it over full seasons of time and it produces nothing edible or sweet smelling. I think its definately a weed. But Id like to know too!
