We took a trip to Northwestern Oklahoma this weekend and it is so sad to see how dry everything is. Kind of scary, actually. However, as Paul said, we can be content no matter what our situation, and it was neat to be able to appreciate the beauty of the area and the people as well in spite of the conditions. It was a neat trip. If you'd like to see what that part of our state looks like, there are photos and the story at my blog. :-)

Mary Beth, that was just awesome to watch. We have oldddd family friends that harvest wheat, grass seed, lentils, alfalfa, etc. here in eastern Wa., my brother for many years worked for them during harvest. I always said I was going to ride w/him some day....but never did. Sure wish I had of, but he lives on the other side of the state now so guess that won't happen!!! Thanks again for the memories~~

Suzie, so tickled for your memories. It has always been a fascination for me to see how things are made or how we get them. It makes one appreciate things so much more!! Thanks for sharing your memories. We Okies forget that places like WA grow things too!!! :-)

Mary Beth,

Wonderful photos! There is beauty in nature even during a drought.... Our thoughts are with all of you during this time. You are right this drought will have long lasting effects on the price of groceries etc. But, what can you do? Mother nature has a mind of her own.

Thanks for sharing!

As someone who also lives in Oklahoma, I know this is scary time. Didn't Gov. Mary Fallin ask everyone to pray for rain?

Yes, Pixiedra! She asked for us to all pray together this past Sunday.
