Hello to all of you, I have a treadle question. I've sewn all my life, quilt like crazy, have attempted some upholstery in my life. Who of you have treadles, are they difficult to learn to use, worth the trouble, etc. Haven't found one up in alaska, but I would like to try more upholstering projects and if they were to make it easier and fun to use I would be open to purchasing one. What are your thoughts???

Hi Jo, this is Jo!

I have a treadle sewing maching and have used it (albeit infrequently) to repair DH's coveralls, his cardhartts, heavy blankets, etc. I also have a Singer sewing machine, claiming no sewing skills whatsoever (I am more of a mender than a seamstress), but the treadle machine is the one I go to when I have to deal with heavy fabrics. Mine was purchased from the grandparents of a friend when they no longer used it. Good luck in your search around Alaska.

Jo
