Hi Gals!

I'm new to the site, actually, I've been trying to get on it for the past year, but my computer's been down until, well...now.

I'm very excited to be joining though, and I've read MaryJanes Lifebook, cover to cover.

You see, even though I live in the city, I really am a farmgirl at heart. I lived in a town called Deerfield in NH for about six months and I loved having my own garden, picking fresh raspberries right off of the bushes that grew in our yard, trading homemade bread for cucumbers to make pickles with the local farmers. I also loved the little farm market downtown, where they sold homemade jellies, fresh herbs and baked goods, unfortunately, my husbands job forced us to move back to city life.

I love the city too, I can actually live anywhere, but there is something to be said about homemade, fresh, local, handmade everything.

Because of MaryJane's book, I began to knit and taught myself how to crochet. I've made several scarves for the Breast Cancer foundation. As often as I can, I buy local, organic produce. I even got a farmers market to come to the place I work once a week to sell fresh fruits and veggies for healthy dinners. I also have my certificate as an herbalist, which taught me more about how to care for the earth and administer natural plant remedies as an alternative to our over medicated healthcare industry.

Well, enough about me! I'm so excited to be here I could go on and on. I'm looking forward to speaking with others of like mind and having some wonderful discussion ahead!

Hi Jenny,

Nice to meet you! It wasn't hard at all to get certified as an herbalist, time consuming and in depth, but not hard. Herbalism is a wonderful science and I'm more than happy to impart any knowledge I have about them.

Thanks for the welcome! I love the book, it's changed my life, I'm no longer afraid to be feminine in an old fashioned way, wear an apron around the house while cooking, knit a scarf for a loved one, get my fingernails dirty digging up plants, what other's may perceive as nerdy or uncool, I think is totally cool!

Hi Eleanor,

Welcome. It is so true that Farmgirl is a state of mind. How cool that you are an herbalist. I met one a few weeks ago and I have been so tempted to call her and find out about apprenticing with her. She was so interesting and so full of info about native plants. Anyway - glad to have you here!

Hi Eleanor and welcome!! I too would love to learn more about herbs. From your background I'm sure you have so much to share. You said you are a natural health and beauty consultant too, do you sell products as well or what does that mean?

Hi Eleanor! I'm a newbie, but just had to post. I lived in NH for 9 years, and attended church in Manchester. Small world!!! Where did you learn to be an herbalist? Was it a correspondence course? I'm looking into one of those myself...nice to "meet" you!
