I admit it. Every single picture I see of MJ her hair is BEAUTIFUL. I want to know what her hair regimen is. I've got long hair (Waist length) but it's definitely NOT thick and pretty like MJ's! I'd love to get some hair advice from her!

It must be in the genes.......I could never have hair like that. It just tops off her personality, does it not?

It totally does. It's so thick and pretty! While mine is long, it's thin at the ends and has break-off issues. Hers looks beautiful!

I keep wanting to grow my hair out but when it gets to my shoulders I can't do a thing with it and I feel like an old hag. I would love to have instant Mary Jane hair!!!

I asked MJ what her secret was and she replied: "58 years of eating only organic food!"

Ace is right, it really does have a lot to do with her diet. Good oils, nutrients, etc. A secret from her daughter, she does use Pureology Shampoo and Conditioner. It is a bit $ but it takes half as much for each wash and condition. I started using it when I quit coloring my hair just before I started having kids and it keeps my hair really shiny. But again, it does have more to do with diet then we think. And genetics too.

MaryJane and Meg are both so beautiful! When I met MaryJane, I thought her complexion was amazing! When I asked her about it, she gave me the same answer...organic food. I have to say that after going organic, our skin and hair woes have gone away. I'm going to look for that shampoo and conditioner next time we are out of what we have.

I would love to see some instructions in a future MJF magazine for simple, feminine Farmgirl up-do's. I am so uncoordinated when it comes to putting my hair up...it usually just ends up in a ponytail.

??????? Just curious, what's a "leave-in?" Dried leaves, pine pitch?

When I showed up the first time to meet people at Random House, one of the guys said to me as he shook my hand, "I expected you to have dried leaves in your hair."

So many THANKS for all your compliments!!!!

Hey MaryJane . . how about some petals from those beautiful peony flowers you have there? You DO have beautiful hair! But you are a BEAUTIFUL woman, which I know comes from your heart!

I love your response! Being a farmgirl there are all sorts of possibilities for "leave-ins" in our hair. I know what happens to mine when I'm out working outside.

I do use Biolage Daily Leave-In Tonic, which is a pump spray that I like to "perk" up my hair when I've been out in the sun, wind and such.

Sooooooo thrilled and privileged to have shared some time with you recently at the farm. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!

We did take pictures . . . you can see a lot of them at

There are some others on various road trip related threads on the connection. If you want help finding them, let me know.

But, I'd happily go back for more!!!

I was taking a look at these products and everyone of them says they are for color treated hair.

I know it's weird and I used to color my hair before I had kids but this shampoo brings out the natural color of my hair. I think they say it is supposed to enhance color, I wonder if anyone has told them it enhances your natural hair color too. Maybe they just figure everyone colors their hair so that is who they should be speaking to. Who knows! I think the sunscreen Mom and I use, Juice Beauty, makes a good-for-you-and-the-environment hair color, if you are a color-your-hair kinda gal.

That is so cool!! Here is a pic of my hair. The pic was taken a couple months ago but it looks pretty much the same, except it is alot longer now. I can't decide if I want to style it or not. Do you think it would look good layered?

Hannah,

I wish I could say that it would, but I'm a horrible hair person. Mine is naturally pretty curly, and I can't do layers-if I straighten it all the time it would look fine, but if I let it "go" natural, it looks like a hedge! Maybe try one layer and see how it looks?

Your hair is about the length of mine and I have mine in long layers. I use to have my first layer about chin level but couldn't braid my hair so I now have them do the first layer about 5" up from the bottom. Your looks great the way it is though so you might want to just leave it. My hair is so heavy that if I don't layer it the weight pulls any body straight out of it.
