Alee I love the suggestins above, but hands down, this is my fave Chard recipe, & it makes a full meal. Put a pot of pasta on to boil. I like linguine. Saute some sliced garlic, rosemary & red pepper flakes in olive oil over medium to medium low heat. Do not burn the garlic. Add some chopped walnuts & slightly brown those as well Add the chard until it reduces in size, but do not cook so long as to make it mushy. I like it with some "bite" to it. Add a few ladels full of pasta water & momentarily bring to a boil. Drain pasta & add to chard mixture Top with cracked black pepper, grated parmasean, & indulge! It is wonderful! |

I've been adding my Swiss Chard to green smoothies. It's good. Cindy

Doug added it to our stir fry last night. I can tell it has a lot of nutrients in it- I feel amazing the next morning after having it for dinner! :) I am so ready for the rest of my garden to be producing like this!!

Thanks for all these great ways to use chard. I love this stuff. I am using fennel bulbs, Vidalia onions, and a few other things that stir fry well, in olive oil and at the last minute add the chard chopped up. It is so good. The fennel adds some really good flavor. Try adding some beet greens too. Talk about a nutrient rich dinner then. And add some roasted beets. Love some roasted beets.

We like it this way--take the leaves off the ribs, chop the leafy part and also slice the ribs, mix with potatoes you've chunked up into 1 inch or so cubes, mix in a little olive oil and 1/2 to 1 cup of parmesan cheese, and also add sliced up sausage/kielbasa, put it in a baking pan and bake. Yummmmmmmm!!
