| does anyone know where one could find a good old fashioned dust mop ? I mean the kind like my mom used when I was a girl, she could take the head off and shake or clean it and pop it back on. I want one for my hardwood floors in the new house,. the broom just doesn't cut it and I don't want the added expense of buying swifffer pads all the time. |

I've seen them here at the grocery store and at Costco.... I hope that helps!!! That sure brought back memories of my grandma - nary a day went by when we didn't see her with hers! I have one made by Bona that is designed for hardwood and laminate floors. It's like a swiffer but bigger and sturdier. It came with a re-useable dust cloth and a mop cloth. They stick to the bottom with velcro so you can just pull them off, run through the washer and put them back on. I love it.

| Check Target or your local hardware store or Leyman's on-line (they carry a lot of "old time" items that still work today. I got one that has terry cloth covers that you take off and throw into the washer - I bleach mine and hang them out on the clothes line to be dried by the sun. I use these to "dry". Great thing is you can turn the covers inside out and get double use out of them. I'm still using the same covers I got years ago. There's also the same sort of mop only with the microfiber covers. Then I use a steam cleaner for the once a week heavy cleaning on my wood floors or for when DH and the dogs (3) track in mud after it rains. The guy who put down our hardwood floors said not to use water on them - just dry mop and steam. Also, all these mops are good for the environment - no waste like using those Swiffer thingies. |

| I ordered mine from cleanreport.com It's owned by Don Aslett who wrote quite a few books on cleaning. Lot's of supplies there. The stuff I have ordered is really good quality. |

I got one at Dollar General. It is a Mr. Clean dust mop and has reusable heads that you can just throw in the washer. I also have a good old fashioned yard type that I ordered from Vermont General Store. I use it for dusting down paneling in my home and getting rid of cobwebs.

I just stick microfiber on my swiffer....might not be as heavy duty as what you are talking about but works :)

Have you looked on Flylady.org? They have a dust mop I have bought and it works well.
In one of your magazines you wrote about paper towels and I believe it was under Simple Solutions. I have been trying to find it again to reread it and don't remember what issue it was in. Is it on the website? |

I do the same thing as Sabrina. I buy a pack of microfiber towels at the Dollar Tree and cut them in half. I get two for the price of one for my swifter. They don't ravel and they attract dust like magic. I just throw them in the wash and go!

Here's what I do ~
I have one of those soft shaggy headed mops. I take a large piece of fleece material and cover the mop head, bringing all sides of the fabric up the wooden handle and secure with a big rubber band.
I dust the wooden floors, under beds & dressers, and up in corners to catch cobwebs... and the fleece material uses static magic :) to catch all the bunnies & webs.
When I'm done, I just take the fabric off, shake it outside & toss it into the wash.
Easy Peasy.
And reusable indefinitely.

I have a Mr Clean like Patsy that I also got at the Dollar General Store. It works great and I like that I can toss in the wash...but while we are on the subject of Hardwood floor or the laminate hardwood...how does everyone clean theirs. I haven't cleaned mine since it was put down this year because I don't want to mess it up. so just dust mopping it. I really would like to find away to get the dirt off it...thanks Penny
