I have been looking for about a month for a food strainer since I'm going to start canning. Checked eBay, local stores, online THEN I found this- "while supplies last"-

if you buy a Roma Sauce Maker & Food Strainer ($54.00) you get a free
4pc Screen Kit for it. The kit's alone are usually pretty spendy. You get 5 strainers total. Good deal if anyone's interested. The one I was going to get locally at Ace was $45.oo w/ 1 screen. I also like the clear plastic tube for the waste. Some of the cheaper ones don't have them and that seems like it would be messy/drippy. I'd rather get the all metal ones, but out of my price range....

Nancy,
I'm wondering if your food strainer and a food mill are used for the same things?
I do jam and jelly, but I've been thinking about making apple butter. And if I ever
grew enough tomatoes...
Thanks Debbie

Yes basically. It's more for bigger volume, faster processing. I was going to buy an old fashioned food mill, where you turn the handle. When I saw this, made more sense for me. I have 2 fruit trees and lots of berries. Apple butter you just make apple sauce, add the spices/cider, cook it down. Most people use a crock pot, supposed to work great!
