Not a great weekend for sales, yesterday was raining all day, and there are usually not to many on a sunday. But I did get 3 aprons, 6 little wooden tea boxes, not sure what I'am going to do with them, but they are cute, which for me is good enough reason to buy them, I mean for .50 cents you have to take them home. Big bag of yarn, 4 old embroidered pieces which I can make up into something. A painting which I really like, its a winter scene with a log cabin, that was 1 dollar. then 4 dresses, they are in the wash now, have to try them on, if they don't fit I will pass them on to someone else. I think that was about it. No books this week or sewing stuff.

Oh that sounds like so much fun! I haven't been garage sale-ing in ages and your post totally makes me want to head out. I bet any that I would find this late on a Sunday would be pretty picked over, but I may just try it anyway. My eyes bugged at the "big bag of yarn!" Good finds!

Wow, you go girl! I live so far out in the National Forest, I don't have any neighbors, and would have to drive way to far! But I do dream about good garage sales! Have fun!

well, I'm doing major, major clean out around here at my house, piling things in the garage in bags right now until the weather cools down a little..doing a major clearing out garage sale soon..hopefully the end of August/first of September..you wanna come by? LOL lots of home decor and christmas items..still have so very much yet to clean out, and its nice stuff too, just things I won't want to decorate with in a new house. things my mom in law gave me and so forth. But I like garage saling too..as long as the weather isn't too hot.I love a good bargain.

my husband just brought home the darlingest homemade little table..waist high and painted solid white, about 3 ft long by 2 ft wide.I intend to repaint it into a very cheery perhaps Mary Englebriet style table..yay!
someone was just tossing it out and its very very sturdy.

I didn't get to go to any yard sales this weekend. My dad is in from Florida, and he spent all weekend putting procelain tile on my bathroom floor. Saturday, including my husband and I and our kids, we had 13 people here, all day long. There weren't as many yesterday, thank goodness!

Melissa,
Maybe next week. I have tile floor in my bathroom and kitchen I love it, so good trade off for no garage sales.

Nancy,
Yes, but I was so looking forward to finding stuff! The tile is great. The one we picked out and bought turned out to be porcelain, we never paid attention to that fact until my Dad's ceramic tile saw wouldn't cut it! So, off to Lowe's we went! It turned out great though!

wish I knew how to post the picture of completed table that I mentioned ..I got it done today. Painted a checkerboard game board in the center in black and red with a blue border. Then free hand painted a bunch of bright red cheery poppies and green leaves around the checkerboard. It turned out really cute.

Tina,
Know what you mean, I can't post pictures either, one of these days I will get my wits up and work on that.I always use a regular camera. We have a digital but I don't use that one because by the time I figure out what I'am doing, whatever I was going to take a picture of isn't there anymore.HA.

Nancy,

Have you ever gone to Dundee Days? It's when the whole town of Dundee, NY has a garage sale on the same weekend. We went for the first time this year (it was July 7-8)and it was great! We got several old floor lamps, a Seth Thomas clock, and a box of 9 old army surplus satchels for $5. Those are just the highlights, our tiny car was stuffed to the gills. Best part was meeting practically the whole town of Dundee! Are there other towns that do this? I've never heard of it before, and I would certainly check out any other town-wide sales in my area.

Amie,
Its looks like Dundee is about 2 hours from me. what a great day you had there. Yes There are towns that do this, usually when there is some event in town they will have lots of garage sales since people are going to be there anyway.

Amie,

Keep me in mind for that. It sounds like a lot of fun! Here in the Syracuse area we have a large mostly higher income development that has a community garage sale over the mothers day weekend. I've never made it but I guess there are some fabulous buys.

I'm a relatively new convert to the garage sale scene. When I go I just go looking for what I need and don't buy anything unless I find it. Last weekend I got 4 big boxes of canning jars (some of them the old blue ones) for $10. The man actually went into his attic to get them for me. He didn't bother getting them out because he didn't think anyone would buy them. Lucky me I asked!

lAURA,
That was a good find, yea, sometime if you ask they will go look and find it, I asked last week if they had any aprons and she went in the house and came out with two, .25 cents each. Keep up with the sales they are great, just amazing what is out there.

Here's my fun garage sale tale: This a.m. on my walk, I found a folded-up dollar bill. Later, saw a garage sale and pulled over -- there was a little Ikea set -- two sizes of tiny plates plus tiny bowls (kid size), all in the original packaging -- for one dollar. Sold!

I just love garage sales.

What could be better than that Katie!? How fun! I am off to a big annual sale at a large church nearby in the morning. Got my fingers crossed!
