I wrote it one morning after working in my flower beds, and thinking that I'd be a geranium if I were a flower. These were some of my reasons: No thorns. Not flashy. They’re hearty and hardy. I’d like that to describe me. Vigorous and joyful.
The responses have been delightful! I'm reading them on the blog and on FB, and my local readers are just sharing with me when they see me.
I'd sure love to hear some Farmgirl thoughts!

Love it! If I was a flower, I would be a sunflower. I just love how tall and strong they are. Also how their heads follow the sun...what a life, standing tall and following the sun!

I love both of those reasons for "being" a sunflower! Wonderful!
Today my mother told me that she'd be a wild pink primrose. Dainty and pretty... but strong, and doesn't mind getting out of the boundaries sometimes! Perfect for her!!
I love the choices people come up with... It's been a fun question to ponder!

I think of I were a flower, I'd be a Lilly. They are bold, vivid, with big blossoms. They are a bulb, and can be split, cut back, yarded up by the root, transplanted, and still bloom again their next season, wherever planted. They succeed alone, but thrive all the more when rootbound with other lillies. (I'd be a pink stargazer lilly, just cuz that's my favorite flower.. ever;)
The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

I would be a zinnia. They are bright and pretty and long lasting. They make me happy and that's the way I want to be. And they can also just be thrown on the ground and still come up fast and ready to grow.

I would be a daisy..plain, simple, sweet, long-lasting and unpretentious. It's my favorite flower. My second favorite is violets.. such a pretty color. I so rarely see them and I do like them so. Joey

I would be a wild violet, they are so calming and pretty. And the way they spread throughout their area, reaching out to cheer us on. Plus they remind me of my grandmothers. Yes, a violet! They make me happy.

I would be a bright pink coneflower. I would feed the bees and butterflies with my nectar and pollen in the summer and provide for the birds with my extra seeds in the winter.

Dawn, I love your answer. I love autumn, and especially this summer, in the middle of our terrible drought, I'm longing for those cooler days. Mums will be quite welcome!

I'd be a vibrant pink rose. Roses are my favorite flowers. They are strong, wonderfully fragrant, are romantic and just loved by most people :) Things I am not often lol. Yes I DO smell good haha and am romantic. But for the rest I am not sure :(. Ah well....

I'd be a Chedder Pink. Compact, sun loving, a little spicy, a little sweet. It is not a show stopper but it adds to the whole of a garden. Thriving on very little and apt to pop up in the strangest places! Not necessarily my favorite flower but it is definitely very much like me!

Nicole, there's nothing like driving down Highway 36, making my way from eastern New Mexico down to Houston to visit my sister in the springtime. When those bluebonnets are making a massive blue carpet it's absolutely grand.
Connie... I don't always know flower names, so I had to go have a look at "Chedder Pinks". Wow! What a fabulous answer you gave... obviously a wonderful description of yourself.

If I were a flower - I would invite all of you to come grow in my garden!
I think I would be a Forget-Me-Not. It was the first one that came to my mind when I read this thread. There is a long story to go with it but I got some from my dad who passed away 13 years ago and I am still growing them from the seeds I got from him. So small, blue Forget-Me-Not would be my choice.

I would be a purple Iris--the kind that smell like grapes. That flower and that fragrance remind me of my great grandparents who had Iris beds (just the purple-grapey kind) all over their yard. Happy, happy memories.
