Well fiddle stix,,,
With this 'strange' weather we are having over here in the (Pacific) Inland North West,,,, my garden is just not ready.... there are so many 'micro climates' up here & I seem to be in the one with the least friendly weather...Monday it rained 3 times...yesterday I actually got to go play in my Garden of Weedin' and to day it is bloody bone chilling cold...yes, wearing a jacket,,,might even put on my ear muffs...the wind chill factor is so cold! We still have not gotten past 79 degrees, and only a couple of time at that! It is usually in the mid to upper 60's & yes, we are mid way through June!...uugghh!
But at least my 'wine bottle crop' is coming up! Thank goodness for colorful wine bottles! lol!

I love the wine bottle idea! I will start doing the very same in my garden-looks like you are using them for row indicators?- Thanks, I love your creativity! I am in Montana and the garden has been slow goings as well. I finally covered mine with cold frames (plastic stretched over bamboo poles that I bent over) just to get a little more warming on the soil, so far, so good. Sorry I do not have a pic. I already took them off....

You must live in a weird microclimate. Oddly enough we have been warmer than you guys in Spokane and we're about 40 miles from the Canadian border! Sunny and lovely here--no ear muffs needed. Granted it's been cooler than normal but very bearable. I'm not looking forward to the 90's. Currently cooking up some morels we found at our cabin which higher up in the mountains(3200 feet) Ya gotta love elevation differences you get about 4 springs! JoAnn

How cute! I love it. I may have to do that here if we keep drying up like we are. What a great idea.

JoAnn,

For the past few years I've been noticing on the TV weather and when I listen to the Weather Band on the radio that Colville's temperatures are always warmer than here in Spokane! When I realized it's a regular pattern I was quite shocked! I'm not sure why it's so. Guess I need to do some research to find out why! Plus we in the valley are always warmer in the summer and colder in the winter than the airport readings.

I am constantly confused by the weather here in northeastern Wa. I look at the radar in the morning and it's perfecttly void of rain "blobs" as I call them. Then 2 hours later it's raining. I have had it rain on our house--looked on the radar and there's not a blob in sight. I think the mountains have something to do with it. About an hour after I commented on Grace's comment I went to town and experienced rain, sun, rain, sun. On the way home I was driving the road on the west side of our narrow valley and could see rain showers in two different places, sun in others--go figure. I must have put on and taken my jacket off 10 times. All that said I love it here--surrounding by mountains on all sides so I will cope with it--gotta have something to talk about: ) JoAnn P.S. I have had friends call me during the winter and say saw on the news Spokane is getting snow are you getting buried and I said nope it's sunny here: )

Well, It rained off & on today,,,got up to 50degrees today, here where I live,,, & I live just down the road from the National Weather Station,,,& about 10miles (as the crow flies)from the Spokane Airport. So I never go by the general weather report for all of Spokane. I don't really live in Spokane,,,I am smack dab between Medical Lake/Airway Heights & the Airforce Base.... I don't know where I live but I know how to get here! lol!

As for my wine bottle garden,,, easy peasy,,,low maintnance, don't need to be watered or fertilizered and they don't set off seeds.... I just need to keep drinking wine to keep my garden going...any volunteers? lol!
