My boyfriend just moved in and he works 2nd shift M-F..Should I make dinner in the evening and leave him his portion on the stove or what? I don't want him to come home hungry and have to fix himself something to eat every night. Thanks for any advice you may have

If you are making dinner for yourself anyway, yes make his too, put it so its easy for him to re-heat...

My husband's second shift is from 2-10. He doesn't want to eat that late, so I send him a lunch just as if I would in the morning. He has "dinner" about 6:00 - just like he would at home. He usually has a snack when he gets home and winds down enough to go to sleep. It's hard to sleep on a full stomach. But, if he want to eat at home, I'd try to fix things that are easy to reheat - crock-pot things, casseroles, soups, stews, etc. As much as we like left-overs, no everything taste great warmed up. So, be as considerate as you can...but keep in mind, you don't work the 2nd shift. My husband doesn't expect me to cook for him that late, considering I have to get up at 5:00 anyway. It's something you'll have to tailor to both of your needs.

Holly great suggestions - Tina part of living with someone and making it work it to really talk and listen to each other. What does you boyfriend have to say about this?? My son is a much better cook then his wife and so they do cooking together on weekends and put food away for the week in the frig and also make enough for the freezer so when no one can cook there is great food just minutes away... Also, what did he do before he lived with you??? Many folks I know who lived alone really did not put much thought into food and then when they have someone else there they expect more done for them - again communication is the key to this and also your relationship working in the long run.
Good luck and Happy Eating

I cook for myself, my spouse, my 3 children (8 5 and 10 mos) my mother, my 18 year old sister, my 13 year old brother.
Yeah, I put a lot of food out every night :(
When dinner is done, I make small plates for my oldest kids (and cut their meat, butter their bread, etc. Make hubby's plate and stick it in the microwave, then mine, and then I call the rest for supper. I found when I put off DH's plate till cleaning up, there wasn't enough dinner left!
He works in retail atm and usually closes, so he gets home anywhere from an hour to 4 after the rest have eaten.
