Lisa you take great pics! Your daughter makes a great '40s model. Love the dresses she's wearing. Wish I could sew.

Lovely. The 40's is my favorite era. Your daughter looks so beautiful and you did a great job on the dresses.

LOVE it! I wish I could have some dresses like that. They don't make patterns in my bust size though......grrr, and it's so difficult to redo a pattern for my bust...requires pretty much redrawing the pattern.

Thanks so much everyone! I had so much fun with this! I have almost convinced my older girl to let me play dress up with her, Zelda Fitzgerald style-that should be fun too!
The sunglasses were my husband's grandmother's. I found them in a drawer in her sewing chest. One of my most prized possessions!
Again thanks so much for the nice words, the little dear's head is just floating :o)

Lisa, your daughter is drop-dead gorgeous -- especially in those beautifully made dresses. If you decide to go into production, put me on your "sucker list"! ;-) |

Lisa, she is so cute and looks so much like her brothers. You did such a great job. I have got to learn to sew. Does she show any interest in sewing yet?

I'm with you there, when I was making clothes for reenacting I literally gave up patterns for everything except sleeve shapes. I drafted a blouse/bodice pattern that fit and cut it out with cardboard so it lasted and used the exact same bodice with different sleeves for every outfit I made. The only tweaks I made were in gathers vs. darts or pleats.
