If you can find an exact color match, I think all the colors you spoke of would be fine, in my eye thou, I think the hanging ribbon should be the same color as the tray itself, so you don't take away from the flowers, also you might want to put a clear coat on it, to protect the tray from un-do wear and scratches...

Hey Kristina,
Cool tray! I can picture a yellow gingham myself. Or maybe red. I am not one to ask though ;)

I would do red - my favorite color combo (or one of them) is red and turquoise, but it depends on your taste. I like that bold contrast though. Cute tray by the way, and great idea for repurposing!!

I would use black and make it "pop" I love adding subtle splashes of black. The good thing about using ribbon, if you don't like one color it's easy to change and not expensive! Have fun

I like the yellow gingham idea - or maybe a ribbon with polka dots or something fun. Cute tray...

Kristina - what a gorgeous tray! Is it hand painted? I agree with Tina, it would look really nice with a ribbon that matches the background color of the tray. That way the ribbon won't detract from the design or the photos. A wide satin ribbon, Tulle or netting would give it a soft touch to emphasize the round corners on the tray.
Cheers! ~ Marilyn

I would go with a green ribbon, as green contrasts very highly with all the main colors of the flowers

Personally I am partial to yellow (my favorite color is blue/green so figure that out) But I think a yellow ribbon would go well. Or like Jen says a green ribbon would work too because of that contrast. I guess it depends what the color is of the room you are hanging it in and what you want to bring out in the colors. What a great idea!

I like the yellow gingham idea or the black - that sounds interesting too. Other than that, I think I would do a ribbon in the turquoise. Really, I don't think you can go wrong. What kind of magnets will you use?
I think you have an awesome idea, btw. Another idea if you don't want to do ribbon, is big velcro with the self-stick stuff. I bought my husband a round, vintage metal tin from the flea market one year that had an old 50's Danish drink ad on it. (He's from Denmark). He used velcro to hang it on the wall in the man-cave (basement), that way he can pull it off to use the tray itself.

I like the idea of a red ribbon. I, too, love the blue/red color combo. You have red in the tray so I think the red ribbon will enhance that. If you use blue it might seem like too much maybe?? Love the tray and I hope you post some pics after it is all done and hung up! |
