My DD Shannon was bitten by a deer tick that was positive for Lyme Disease when she was 10 years old. She was mis-diagnosed for over 2 years and now has Chronic Lyme Disease. I bought the documentary "Under Our Skin" and it has helped us get her some treatment for her health problems related to Lyme Disease.

It is now being shown on PBS stations around the country. I urge you to watch it and take precautions to know how to prevent tick bites and to get early treatment. This disease has changed our lives forever.

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

thank you, Diane... We have a huge tick population right outside my back door.

im very sorry to read that this horrible disease hit your household and the fact of taking two years to diagnose.

Margo,
This most important thing is to get early treatment. My DD will now have it the rest of her life. It was 16 years ago, but there is more information and education currently. So hopefull fewer people end up like she has.

Hi Diane, thanks for the heads up. I'm so sorry that your daughter is dealing with chronic lyme disease. it's a horrible debilitating illness. Has she had some improvement with treatment?
we have had an abundance of ticks this year, my husband has gotten several off him this spring, while doing gardening. we didn't see one last year, but this year is really heavy.

thanks again. blessings Phyllis

I watched that documentary a few weeks ago and "liked" it on my FaceBook page.

We live in the Great North Woods and have been aware of Lyme disease for quite a while, but after watching it I have become almost maniacal about checking for ticks especially after DH comes in from chopping wood for our winter supply and our dog Truman gets a good going over as well.

I applaud the doctors who risked their medical licenses to treat the people highlighted in the documentary-They are few and far between. Darn insurance companies....

So sorry to hear that your daughter now has chronic Lyme disease-and the fact that she was mis-diagnosed initially. It really, truly is an epidemic and has to be recognized as such before people will sit up and take notice of this horribly debilitating disease and hopefully this documentary will get some badly needed media attention.

Best of luck with your girls treatment-
