I recently found a few uses for the covers to soft-spread or cool whip containers. Instead of disposing them, I cut them in half with scissors and use them for scrappers and scoopers. Holding the flat edge against the counter I use it to dry wipe any of my baking ingredients like flour off my counter. You need to first snip the corners off at a small angle though, so that the flat surface can lay even against the counter. My reused cover also works great for scooping up anything chopped from the cutting board. When I used it to transfer rhubarb into freezer bags it worked like a charm, much faster than trying to scoop with your hands, or using a spatula, and the sides prevented anything from falling off. I have found too, that a larger version is handy out in the litter box. We don't use scoopable cat litter, so I separate the used from the fresh daily, by sifting the poop out with the scoopable litter sifter, tilting the pan and allowing the fresh litter to fall away from the used wet, and then using my reused cover I scrape the wet into the waste container.

very clever! I have used the tops from Cool Whip for plant markers but I like this idea better. Thank you.

I use my plastic lids for acrylic paint pallets and for quilt templates.

I love the scraper idea! Like Jackie says they do make great paint palettes and glue/glitter trays when working on small projects. I also use lids around the house for coasters and as saucers under my house plants.

Love the scraper idea! Looking forward to using it during putting up the garden produce. Anything that makes filling a freezer bag easier is a winner to me.
I use the containers as paint holders for small projects and put a half a lid back on the container. I use the cut edge to wipe the brush of excess paint. It falls right back into the container and does not drip down the sides onto my fingers and floors.

That is a great idea... I also do this with mine:
if you eat cherry tomatoes, you can use two tops and put the cherry tomatoes in between them, then use a knife and cut them in half... You can cut like 15 at once :)

I get it. Kinda of like slicing a layer of cake into two layers? I make a salad with cherry tomatoes. This idea will come in handy!

Thank you all for your comments and new ideas. I just tried slicing grape tomatoes between two covers and it worked like a charm. I imagine cherry tomatoes will be even easier. Great coaster and paint brush scrapper ideas, as well! Thanks girls.

Just popped by to say thanks again for the ideas! I've used it for paint, its great for scraping out the flour in the grout lines on my counter too, so thanks you guys are brilliant! I was making three small loaves of French bread on Friday, and grabbed half a lid, and used it to cut the dough too. Worked great!(((hugs)))

Great use Annette. It didn't scratch your counter top either. I bet it would work great to help lift the edge of a rolled pie crust too. I think I will leave one out on the counter top so I'll remember to use it and try new things.

Just the other day I took an old cottage cheese container with lid, and turned it into a "string holder" for the twist tie stuff you use for tying up plants, like your tomato's, etc... I know it's not just the lid but I thought this was a good place to tell you all.

Good idea Ginny! I dropped my ball of twine in the garden this weekend and of course when I rolled it back up if was covered with mulch and dirt. If I had it in a container with a dispenser hole it would still be neat and clean. I'll make one as soon as I have a container.

I use the plastic lids to cut out little "marker stakes" to put in my pies when I send the to my hubby's Masonic lodge meetings. I write what kind of pie it is and just stick it in the pie. I cut them with a circle on top and point on the bottom just like a garden marker.
