Good afternoon ladies. How are your blocks coming along??
I is such a nice day out today.
I am dong a little gardening. I cut my lavender and have it hanging to dry. Gosh I hope I am doing this correctly.
I am doing a little wash. I wish I had a clothe line to hang my sheets and towles on.
Some reading. Its about an Elephant trainer. And I am sitting on the deck typing you all a quick note.
soon as the sun lowers some this afternoon I will mow the lawn. I love the smell of fresh cut grass. But my eyes and runny nose don't.
It is warm but the breeze feels nice.
Enjoy your saturday everyone!

I had 4 teen boys ready to help quickly and swiftly move through all the beds and weed this morning... then rain. I didn't want to torture them. Now I have 6 19 year olds (the 4 boys and 2 girls) all hanging out and having a sleepover downstairs tonight. Maybe if it isn't raining in the morning we can get the weeding done before they leave! (and get the new clothes line put up) Then must pack, off to BC Canada monday for the week, me for pleasure, hubby for work. Dogs first time crossing the border.

Received Linda Jo and Nettie's lovely blocks. 2 more to go and we'll be finished with another successful and beautiful swap. Will post the Fall and Christmas swaps in a few days or maybe tonight if I get the chance. The Fall will be a Maple leaf due on 9/15 and the Christmas will be a wreath due on 11/15. This will give enough time to put it together for this years season. My wreath blocks are finished and I will send it with these blocks if you are joining. I didn't do the maple leaf blocks yet. I have names for both swaps already but please email me again to confirm you are going to join. Thanks so much and keep stitching!

Ok I have these blocks done and I measured the and they are 12" not 12 1/2". I tried to get ahold of Darlene, what did I do wrong? I cut them 7' and did 1/4 inh seam. Please let me know something, then I can fix and send.
Thanks

Raine,
In order to use what you have, you are going to have to take them completely apart and resew using a very scant quarter inch seam.
You are better off staring completely over again.
Try starting with 7 1/4 block. Put your two fabrics right sides together. Draw a line from one corner to the other. Pin if you need to. Stitch a scant quarter inch on either side of the line. Iron to set the seams. Now cut them apart and press open.
They should be bigger then 6 1/2. Now as long as your blocks are square, sew them together, again using a scant quarter inch seam allowance, to make the pinwheel. Now you can trim them to 12 1/2.

Thanks so much Kathy! I figured I would have to start from scratch, cut them larger, and on the one that I sewed that is 12 inch I did use the 1/4 seam, so I will do that again.
My problem is that I don't want to make you all wait. These storms have taken out electricity over and over again so I was already behind and now we are in a heat wave that won't quite so we have had electric issues again!!! My garden was totalled by 110+ mph winds and I have trees all over my yard. =) But it could have bbeen worse so I am thankful. So I called Darlene acouple times and e-mailed her to see what she wanted me to do but I have heard nothing back so I hope she is ok.
So my plans is to have them mailed out tomorrow or Weds morning at the latest. Is that ok with you guys? I am really sorry but this has been the worse couple weeks of my life! Please let me know. Hugs.
