I finally scored today at the Goodwill. Most of it I thought was really over priced for Goodwill, yet they were way cheaper then had I bought them elsewhere, and all things I would of wanted even at a higher price, so I went with it and bought them. But, I must say it's a sad day when inflation even hits the thrift stores. And boy was it crowded in there today!
Check out my blog post to see what I found. I really loved the things I bought. A Vera Wang maternity sweater, a milk glass anchor deviled egg plate, a corningware pot, and a really cute and unique photo album.

Cool Heather! Don't you just love a good deal? I too remember when thrift store prices were under a dollar, Goodwill has gone up that's for sure :) I love the egg plate and album :)

Thanks Gals the deviled egg plate was my favorite too. I also really liked the photo album. I just wish things were still priced well, especially considering that they get it donated to them for free, but maybe employees pay increased, and the store rent is higher, I don't know.

hey Heather, I know that the employees at our GW are in a 'training program' and do get paid... Our GW store has special sale days as well as Senior & Military discounts.... And like Annette said, it can be hit or miss...but I never seem to leave empty handed...lol!

I love yard sales, and I really hit a good one today! I was thinking about buying new curtains for my scrap room. But they are so expensive, so I stopped at a yard sales. And that was a yard sales it was huge. I was looking around and I saw sheets on a table and curtains and other things. I picked up on set of curtains and what did I realize, they were just like the ones I have in the living room.I wanted to jump for joy. Actually she had two sets of them paid four dollars for them. New they would have been almost forty dollars a set. I've been on cloud nine ever since this morning. YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! |

Don't ya just love it?! Good for you!
My husband has been after me to buy some type of storage/organizer for my fabric, lace, etc. that I use in sewing and can't understand why I don't just go out and buy something (and of course, pay full price). Maybe it has something to do with both of us being unemployed right now?---duh!
Anyway, I found a three drawer (plastic) unit (with wheels I might add) yesterday at a thrift store for $8.00. I thought it was a pretty good deal considering the last one I looked at in a store was $20.
Keep up the thrill of the hunt! Darlene

Coolness, I need to take pics. But, I went to a Garage Sale on Saturday and scored.
For 10 dollars total I got-
A solid wood, carved high chair! Totally useable. We live in a large cabin and the wood goes exactly with our wood paneling in the cabin!
What I call a music table. It's a toddler/baby table that takes batters, and when they push different buttons makes music. I usually don't like these kinds of toys, but my mom bought my dd one and she loves it! So I bought her one for our house too.
A teething bracelet never used-also can be used as a nursing bracelet, as the beads are something to fiddle with while they nurse.
A stacking toy. You know the ring stacker for babies, however, this one has stars instead of "rings" to stack.
I figured the high chair alone would be 20 bucks at the least, compared to prices I have been seeing for such around here at garage sales, but to get it ALL for 10 bucks. I was a happy camper!

Love the photo album and egg plate! Nothing like finding great deals, but i've had to force myself not to go to our thrift store, St. Vincent De Pauls, because i'm trying to get rid of things to make life simpler! Not easy to do! :) |

I have a large family too, I have 17 brothers and sisters. This is my third plate I have like this, I have two others just like it. One I got at a auction right before I married, and the second one my husband's grandmother just gave me last year. She doesn't have much longer to live, so she said she was looking at things to give to every one in the family and she wanted to give me something before we moved (we moved from NYC to Kansas!) and she said she seen the plate in her china cabinet and knew that was for me! (I'm the only one who makes deviled eggs in the family! lol) It truly was the perfect memento to give me! I love it! And now I found this third one. I truly need/want one more though. (they eat a lot of eggs! haha) But, this is a great start from my only having one! lol I have other plates though that I use to make up for not having enough pretty ones. lol haha But, I would love to have enough to just use the pretty ones, and not have to bring out the ugly plastic ones I fill in with! lol haha And yes, I ALWAYS serve in the egg plates. They roll around too much any other way! Maybe the woman didn't have many family members and only had to make like 6 eggs, versus the 3 to 4 dozen I usually have to make when I make them! lol I can not make less then 2 dozen (48 deviled egg halves) with out mutiny! hahaha
Vincent's went out of business here when I was growing up. too bad. :( But, we do have some clothing rods we bought from their going out of business sales! lol haha
