We live on a small hobby farm on the Eastern high plains of New Mexico, near a town called Moriarty. Basically it is a truck stop on Route 66 surrounded by cattle ranches. We have loads of sky, stars, sun and wind! I am thrilled to join the ranks of Farmgirls!

Welcome from Long Island, NY Margaret! I chuckled when I read your "location" description,,,it immediately brought to mind the Disney movie "Cars"!
The part about plenty of sky and stars sounds wonderful too!
Enjoy everything this wonderful site has to offer!

Thank you all for that warm Farmgirl Sisterhood Welcome! I am an Easterner transplanted out West, and I have never looked back, I love it out here. We will be relocating to Colorado in the coming months for DH's work, so I will still have my big skies, but there will be more grass!!

Hi Shi-anne, thanks for the welcome! We moved here 5 years ago after my DH got a job out here. He was born and raised in Albuquerque, graduated from UNM and then spent 27 years in the Navy. After he retired, he was working in DC and driving every day from our home in Southern PA, it was going to put him in an early grave, so we made the big move (two kids, four horses, four cats, and a dog O.o). I had lived in AZ for 8 years and LOVE the West, so I was totally on board. And now we are relocating for his job to CO in the next few months, I am happy to be staying out West.

Hey Margaret,
from Ga/Ohio. Live in Ga. and still have family in Ohio where we are originally from.
My husband used to travel out west. He knows where Moriarty is. He worked for a company that sold all the items in truckstops nation wide. He said he thought that there was a Loves or a TA truckstop where you live. Do you know where these are? We also had friends that were Native Americans that lived in Albuquerque. We were pen pals for many years. Lsot touch with them when they moved. Good luck on your move to Colorado.

WELCOME!! Margaret you're in my neck of the woods. I was raised about 40 miles north of you. Do you know where the lone butte is? My parents still live up there. Welcome I hope you make lots of friends. I've been all around the world and realize there's no place like home and can't wait to get back. (yes even with the wind and drought) Hope all is well I know it's so very dry.
