My nephew has some oranges that were given to him....and he is wondering if he can freeze them so he and Ican make some sort of orange marmalade or jam later when I go to visit? I have never done that before...but thought you farmgals could help me out with this one? Do we need to cut them or just freeze the juice? Do we save any zest? HELP! DebbieSue
If you want to make jam or marmalade you need to thinly slice the oranges skin on and freeze in 2 cup portions.
If you just want to freeze them to keep them, peel and pull sections apart. Then you freeze them on cookie sheets and then bag them and return them to the freezer. This way you have wonderful little orange icee bites for during the summer! They are great that way!
