I love the blue vintage canning jars with the metal lids. Does anyone know if these contain lead in the glass? I am wondering how safe they are for food.
I think its actually Zinc that is in those lids....I have a few also & that is what it looks like to me, plus I remember reading somewhere they had zinc in them...but to be sure do a search on the web about them....Michele'
Thanks. Yes, the lids are made from zinc. I have been looking online to see if there are any comments about the glass having lead in it, but I haven't found anything. Thanks again for the info!
Dena Beans... Thank you for this information. I just want to use them to store rice, tea and nuts. I am wondering if they are safe from lead leaching into these sorts of dried foods.
