Yesterday when I was at the gym I found out from a member that her neighbour was looking for strawberry plants. So this morning I am taking 24 strawberry plants to an elderly lady here in town who lost half her strawberry plants to frost this year. When I talked to her on the phone last night she asked me how much money I wanted and I said nothing. She was very surprised but I figure that's what you are supposed to do - share your plants. Anyway it just feels really good and if she has a place for them in the ground I will plant them for her as well. It's what my dad would have done.

Give thanks to yourself everyday for all the wonderful things you do!

Ingrid,
I like sharing my plants too, makes you feel good. Shared some sweet shrub and taking some yellow bells to my SIL and she brought me a big clump of Irises. Mint had taken over a bed so when I dug it out, potted some up and sharing that with some ladies where I bank.

But planting those for your neighbor is really really nice.

Ingrid- It is true. You are getting as much out of doing this for her as she is by getting new plants. Love how that feels. Enjoy the good feeling!

Years ago when we first moved to Flintstone, Ga. we met our neighbor, Mrs. T. She has a beautiful almost 3 acre yard FULL of azaleas, boxwoods, flowers, monkey grass. You name it that lady had it. That was about 28 years ago. She is now almost 94. She could work circles around me. Anyway, she got me started on my yard. I got so many many plants from her. I had border gardens all over my yard. And most of it came from her and a few other older ladies in the neighborhood. And she didn't expect anything in return. Today, I have 5 little boxwoods from the neighbor lady that my SIL and DD bought her house. He was cleaning up the yard and dug them all up and I took them. SO they are here and growing rather well in the front of my house. So her plants live on as well. I always remember her when I look at them. Boxwoods are my favorite bushes because of Mrs. C and Mrs. T.

So that is what we do. We give and share and don't even expect a thing. Not even supposed to say thank you, from what I have heard. That's bad luck to be given plants and say thank you.

Ingrid, I know that lady will so appreciate what you have done for her. I know those strawberry plants will thrive and give her lots of good juicy berries. ANd she will think of you when she picks them.

Ingrid,
That is just wonderful! And I agree with everyone else- that is what we farmgirls do- we share and strive to make other peoples lives richer and better- and it doesnt cost us anything in the meantime! Not to mention how good it makes you feel inside. Which causes you to SMILE- which is also contagious! Its a wonderful cycle!
