Go to my first blog listed below to see a small story about our chapter's hearthside cooking class. I'm writing up a longer version to submit to "keeping in touch" for the MFJ magazine. We had a blast.
Now that looks interesting. I would love to learn how to cook on a hearth. We are going back to buring wood and have an open fireplace right now. But I want to get one of those Vermont Bun ovens. They look so nice and would be really handy making bread. And they aren't really all that much either. I need to start saving some money. Thanks for sharing, Kristina.

Oohhh Kris I totally agree- I have my eye on one of the vermont bun baker stoves too! The one with the Soapstone surround. It looks amazing- you can cook on top and even in the lower section...AHHH someday! Smiles, Laurie Farmgirl Sister#1403
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..
Wish I had an open fireplace! Mine has a coal stove insert. Hmmm...maybe I could cook something on the top of the stove...? Has anyone tried that? I wonder if it's too hot.
I have always wanted a... yikes the name just left me.. thing that is an arm that swings out to hold a cast iron soup pot over the fire. That to me would be perfect. Swung in when the fire is low and pulled out a little when the fire is to hot. I would not have to babysit it or stir constantly. Connie
