I decided to make a blast to the past with photos of stuff from the early farm kitchen and so I grabbed my camera and took lots of pictures to post at the blog. It's a bit long because there are LOTS of pictures but I hope you enjoy them. I bet some of you all have these things too!!

I'll have to go look, Mary Beth. I love vintage......(wait, maybe it's because I'm old vintage!) ;)

I want a wood cook stove....an old one or possibly an early model gas one. Those that were cream and light green colored.

Cheryl, I always wanted one of those too and found one at a lady's house in Guthrie. We bought it and it is now in the garage waiting to have some new chroming done to it before I figure out where in the world I can install it. I think I need a bigger kitchen! :-) It is green enamel with chrome handles, feet and trim. The woman said that it had been her mother's original stove and was from 1906! A true Okie stove. :-)

I bought this very Boone cabinet at an antique store about 4 years ago on layaway. In between the time I made my first payment, and my last, the proprietor got ill, closed up shop and my cabinet still sits inside. I've written letters, called the shop, left messages with the (small) city building and nothing....sigh. It's a bummer, $500 later I still can only "think" about the cabinet.

Mary Beth -
I love the post! I often kid my parents about finding me in an antique store. My growing-up kitchen featured most of these items. I have no idea what Mom's done with them, but they are familiar, and amazingly work better than the fancier, newer things. There is just something to be said about the craftsmanship from the old days - they knew how to make things last. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Mary Beth, Had a wonderful time looking at all of your beautiful pictures! As someone who loves old things, I too, have a Boone cabinet that I purchased years ago. It doesn't have the flour bin in it, however I am still happy with it. Most of the old collectibles I have are ones that I have acquired from my grandparents and my mom. I will take some pictures and post.

Thanks for sharing your vintage kitchen items Mary Beth. The advertisement above is a gem...I also have a Boone cabinet that belonged to my great grandmother and followed the family on their frequent travels all over the country. It has been painted white at some point in it's life and needs to be refinished but it's still one of my favorite pieces and has so many stories to tell. Congratulations on fixing the roll-down door on your cabinet by yourself!

Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Very cool photos! I'm a vintage junkie & antique lover/collector myself. I find older "things" have so much more style than objects now. Even the mundane everyday objects back then - things like staplers or waffle irons - had such style.
