This movie was partly filmed right up the road from my house last year. And some scenes were filmed in Chattanooga, Tn. at the railroad museum. It's coming out in a few weeks. So if anyone sees it, the scene with the really old house where the main charactor grew up is about a mile from me in Kensington, Ga. at the foot of Lookout Mt. It is the most beautiful place here. I can't wait to see it myself.

It was highly recommended to me. Hope the movie is good. But first I must
read the book.

I keep watching for it to come here. I want to see it so bad. I didn't even know there was a book. Barbara, it was right up the road from me about a mile South. I had no idea they were going to film out here. I had heard on the news they would be filming in Chickamauga. We have a Chick. address but this is Kensington here. So I didn't think anything about it. Til one day I kept seeing these big white trailor type trucks going by. A lot of them. And lots of traffic. And we might get a car or truck every hour or so out here. So when there was car after car going past my house, I started asking around. And sure enough, it was the film crew. It was so exciting. But also annoying. I had never seen that much traffic out here ever. So we were glad to see it finished. Now to see the movie!

I do hope y'all can see how beautiful it is here. And I hope they got Lookout Mt. in it.

Sounds good.....I'll be watching for it. In Wyoming, we are way behind the rest of the country in movies. I might get here at the end of the summer. LOL

Kris--at work, our calendar for March had a picture of Lookout Mt. I remember being there when I was about nine or ten. In the picture on our calendar, there is a strip of cleared land going down the side of a mountain--I remember us driving past there, but I don't remember why all the trees were cut away, leaving a wide path. I do remember that it was visible from far away. do you know what I'm referring to? Is Lookout Mt. in Georgia or Tennessee? I don't go to the movies very often so I haven't seen any previews for the movie, but I've heard the book was good.

Angela, I don't know about the book. I hope someone else can tell you.

Cindy, there is a little part of the mountain in Tn. Just the very northern tip. It has Point Park that overlooks Chatt. and the river. Very nice park. We hike it alot. There is also a very old house called cravens House that was used in the war as a base. It faces Signal Mt. in Tn. Then the rest of the mountain is in Ga. and Alabama. Lotts of mountains around here. So Lookout is behind me and Pigeon Mt. is in the front of me. It is so beautiful here. I am in a cove here and it's got alot of history. It's called McLemore Cove. It's just so beautiful. When we were first married we'd come out here riding the motorcycles and wish one day we could live out here. And here we are! So wishes and dreams do come true. The only drawback to being wat out here is that it's SO far away from everything. Like Chatt. is 35 miles, Ft. Oglethorpe is 25 miles. So I have to plan a day trip. That's why my farm in called Outback Farm.

Kris--sometimes I wish I was far away from everything--living on a rarely traveled country lane in southern Illinois. Having a herd of alpacas to keep me company. but I have to admit, I like being not too far from St. Louis. And I like that I can make a trip anytime day or night to Walgreens if I need something. And I'm close to work. You're right, the area around Lookout Mt. is very beautiful. I like the Smoky Mountains better than the Rockies. they just seem more peaceful. And I LOVE the fog.

I read the book a couple of months ago. I think that I bought it at a second hand store. Can not find it right now I must have let someone borrow it.
You may be able to find it on amazon used books. Smoky Mountains are my favorite, Barbara

I read that book from cover to cover in a weekend, it was that good! It was a best seller. I traded my copy long a few years ago. I am sure you can still find it, especially since the movie is coming out.

Tammy, read the book AFTER you see the movie. When I read a book first, then see the movie, I am always disappointed, even just a little, because movies can't go into detail like a book. I always have high expectations and know what comes next(or what should come next according to the book). Then there is the "other person's interpretation". No one interprets exactly as another, and that is especially true in movies. Ok. Now that I've thoroughly confused you.....LOL After viewing the trailers for the movie, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I would LOVE to go somewhere. But my 2 goats are about ready to explode with all kinds of babies in a few days. So I can't go too far away. But a day trip sounds really fun. It's so pretty here right now with all the trees getting their green leaves and flowers blossoming everywhere. The smells are wonderful. Y'all come this way and you can see the house where they filmed some of the movie. And you can come visit me too!

What was the name of that bee movie that had Dakota Fanning and Queen Latifa? I read the book a few years ago and could not put it down. Then the movie was on tv a few weeks ago. It was just like the book. I loved that book. I cried alot. Great movie too.

Just finished Water for Elephants. I loved it. I actually picked it up to read and thought for sure the kids must have moved my bookmark as I could not possibly have read that much the last time I sat down to read it. It's a good read for sure! I am looking forward to the movie. And it will be fun to see your neck of the woods, Kristin!
