I ordered a soap making "kit" from a dairy goat supply house last year. There wasn't much in the kit, as you had to come up with the lye and the oils & fat, but it was all packed in a nice wooden box.

I can get the name of the supply house for you, but you could make a mold without much trouble. I even wondered about using the bottom of a Velveeta cheese box, just lining it with freezer wrap first.

I also think you can find them here ~

Shi-anne, did you make your soap yet?!!!! How did it turn out?
Last summer I spent weeks and weeks making soap, then used and gave away all of it, so this week I am soap making again! So far, I have 48 bars of either plain or Victorian Rose scented, and 24 bars of lemon grass laundry bar soap. I am planning on making 2 batches each week to keep up with demand, lol!! :)
I use empty cigar boxes(my husband smokes the cigars) for my molds and they are perfect sizes. They are made out of wood, so all I do is line them with freezer paper and use them over and over. I have one type that perfectly fits a 2lb. batch, and then another size that will fit a 4 lb. batch. He also just got some barrel type boxes, and I am wondering how I can utilize those for soaps!
Post pictures of your soaps! :)

Not yet.....

I've had the grandbabies so much the last couple of weeks, I haven't made it as of yet. I know I have a limited attention span and can't focus on soap making and what the kids are into at the same time.;)

But soon..... and I will update when I do!

Brenda, I bet the Victorian Rose is wonderful.

I buy from a co-op and one of the ladies sells a soap she calls "Barbwire & Roses". It is nice.

Here is a tip a friend of mine uses, if you are using powdered lye. She measures out her water and then freezes it. Then she adds the powdered lye, its so cool to watch it melt the ice.

Second thing, keep your cell phone far away from the lye. If you drop a cell phone in lye, it will eat the circuits... lets just say from personal experience

Emily, soapy dishwater doesn't do too much for cell phones either. ;) I can imagine lye would really work one over.

I finally made my first batch of soap, last Monday. It came out....it made trace, the lye wasn't nearly as scary as I imagined!!! Dh is so happy (proud) I finally made the soap.

No pictures...hopefully next time, but this time I was really paying attention to what I was doing! LOL

I used essential oils for fragrance....peppermint and lavender. Love it!

My daughter got me a soap making kit for Mothers Day! So excited! She had no idea I've been looking into this and thought it would be something I would enjoy. I think she got everything from Michaels Craft store.

Bren, it still looks good and smells better. I think the fragrance grows as the soap dries. Two more weeks and we will try it out.

Next time I will do the hot process method, I think.

Kim, you will really enjoy making soap. Have fun!
